Hi, I renewed my AP's for our upcoming trip through MS using the DVC Discount. I did receive the confirmation email and was able to link them to MDE. My question is, am I done or do I need to "Activate" them prior to entering the park? This is our first time renewing them so Im not sure how that works. Thanks!
Also, besides the confirmation email, I didn't receive anything else in regards to the APs

If you called to do the renewal, you will need to stop at either a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location to complete the renewal process. You will need to show your new blue DVC Member Card and all adults (ages 18) will need to show a Photo ID.

Yes, you need to stop by guest relations so that once verified you'll get a new card which you need if you plan to use the AP discount. Considering the DVC and AP discount is the same, it all depend which card I pull out of my bag first along with my picture ID.

I have a similar question. I called DVC members services and purchased two gold annual passes so that I could make Fast Pass reservations. They linked our passes to our reservation. I have not received any gold annual passes or certificates to redeem in the mail. Should I receive anything or when we arrive do we just head to the gate to activate by showing our new DVC cards and photo ID?

If you haven't received anything, the CM setup the purchase as will call (not unusual if you call DVC). Even if they sent exchange certificates (aka vouchers), nothing below changes.

You will need to stop at any Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location to activate the passes. If you go directly to the park entrance touch points, you will be turned around and sent to either Guest Relations or a Ticket Window. Also, the resorts are unable to do anything with Annual Passes.

Thanks. I will call and confirm. We are staying at the beach Club and can head over to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios on arrival day to set up. Our flight get in around 11am so we will have a few hours to take care of this before our room is ready.

I will call and confirm.
Really no need to call and confirm since you were given a confirmation number that you linked to MDE.

The International Gateway (back entrance to Epcot) is very close to BCV and has both a Guest Relations Location & Park Ticket Window.

Thanks, I didn't even have to link the passes to MDE, they did it for me. Yes, will probably head over to the EPCOT back entrance and check out the Wine & Food festival while we wait for our room to be ready.

Yes, I renewed on the phone too for our trip in a couple of weeks. All we have is the confirmation number which is jotted down. Along with that and the DVC card and photo ID, that's all you need. We've done it this way many times.

We did that same thing with our last renewal. I was surprised how long it took to get the new passes set up, it took about 20 minutes. Make sure you have your magic band, photo ID and member card.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I will stop by the IG and activate them. I just upgraded my phone and my old phone has the confirmation number on it(Picture) which I don't have anymore. Is it manditory to have that code? If so I will give MS a call and see if they still have it.

Since it's already linked to your MDE profile, the CM can scan any of your MagicBands or RFID Cards to access the information.

Can DVC members buy their DVC discounted AP when purchasing direct, whether is it a renewal or new AP, via the Disney website? And will this AP require the long visit to guest relations or the ticket counter at the park? Or does it automatically set up like tickets do when linked to your MDE account?

New AP, yes as long as your DVC affiliation is linked to your MDE profile.
Some members have posted that they see the correct renewal options on-line, while others don't.

New APs must be activated at a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location regardless of purchase method.
Renewals by phone must be activated at a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location. Online renewals don't require activation.

Another reason to rethink not renewing our APs even when we have a number of months before our next trip, because it seems like the poor CM has to fill out about 50 screens for each AP.

ok, since we are talking renewal.....my current pass is set to expire 10/28/16, I have purchased new PH tickets for use during our stay 11/23 - 29. After speaking with my wife we will probably renew before the 30 day grace has expired. Do I need to use those tickets first and then renew so the renewal can be bridged or can I purchase the renewal before we use the new PH tickets in November? Thanks in advance.

If you want to use those tickets to put the cost towards your renewal you don't need to use them first but you will probably have to do the upgrade in person. You don't have to use the tickets first. Just know the difference in price between the tickets you have and what you're upgrading them to and ask at the ticket window that they be upgraded. You shouldn't have any trouble.
