Annual Pass Renewal Question

So we have annual passes and I would like to renew, but friends of ours gifted us a couple of five day passes which they bought and aren't going to be able to use before the expiry on them. Is there any way to apply the cost of one of those five day passes towards my renewal cost? Or should I just let it expire and do it then (I will save much more money than if I just renew).

Anyone have any ideas?

My understanding is that no, you cannot apply a ticket to an AP renewal. BUT, once your AP is past it's renewal expiration date you can buy a new AP using a ticket upgrade.

What I'm not sure of is the renewal expiration date. I've heard it's the date your current AP expires, I've also heard it's 30 days past the expiration date. I'd check with Disney to be sure.
