Annual Pass Question

I thought I heard somewhere that if you buy an annual pass while down at Disney during your vacation, you get a credit for the amount you paid for your tickets for that vacation against the cost of the annual pass. is that correct and how does it work?

The cost of the type of ticket you bought (# of days, park hopper) is used as credit towards the cost of the annual pass. Meaning, the current price of the ticket is subtracted from the cost of the AP. The cost you paid for your current ticket doesn't necessarily mean you will get that price when you purchase the AP. I did this in November 2016 and it worked wonderfully.

So do I need to do this on the first day of my vacation in the parks? Any idea where I go to do this in Magic Kingdom? Thanks for the response by the way. Really appreciate it.

You just have to upgrade it before your last day. (While still at least 1 day remaining on your ticket) The start date of your annual pass will be the 1st day you used your original ticket not the day you upgrade it. You can upgrade out front at guest relations.

While that info is not incorrect, per se, it is not precisely true.

Guests can up grade a ticket (even a "fully-used-up" ticket) AS LATE AS close-of-business on the SAME DAY that the ticket's last asset ("day") was used.

If that were not the case, guests who went to a park with only a one-day ticket would not have a chance
to add another day (or more) to their trip, if they decided they'd like to do so.

I can attest that it works while the last day on the ticket is in use in the parks.

We did this in January on the last day we were using our park hoppers. We did it at the international gateway guest relations at Epcot. It works well to grease the wallet with some imbibing around the world first.

I have a piggyback question. It used to be specific tickets were the best to buy from Undercover tourist and then upgrade to an AP to be able to get the best bargain. Is that still the case? What's the cheapest way to buy an AP?

That's still the way to go, BUT, which tickets are the "best value" change due to different sales and such from the authorized ticket resellers.

But, its easy to determine which ticket to buy when you want to upgrade to AP.
Just buy any ticket that saves the most money over buying from Disney.

And, do check as many of the ticket sellers that you can find on line... and buy from the one with the best deal.
