Annual Pass Question

So we are in ROFR and trying to figure out all the logistics of our first DVC trip as owners and I had a few questions regarding the Annual Pass

We are planning on going at least twice in a one year span so I know we should get an AP.

We weren't planning on activating it till the first day of our trip in May- so that we could go again the following April using the same pass.

BUT

How does that affect making FP+? Do I have to activate the pass before the 60 day point so I can make my FP reservations?

OR- If I buy the pass in lets say December (does it matter when I buy it?) and link it to my ME account before my 60 day FP+ window-and not activate it till we get there in May would that be ok? Would it be good for a year after it is first used to enter a park?

Confused!:confused3

You don't have to activate the pass in order to make FP reservations. If you use the Will Call option when you purchase your AP, you will get a confirmation number that you can use with MDE so that you can make FP reservations prior to your trip. If you opt to have vouchers mailed to you instead of using Will Call, I believe you can enter the voucher numbers into MDE once they arrive in the mail. I always use Will Call so I'm not sure exactly how the process works with vouchers.

When you get to WDW, you need to go to Guest Services or a ticket window and present your DVC member card, an ID and the confirmation number (or voucher if you choose that option) and the CM will give you the actual pass. It is activated at that point and your 1-year countdown begins on that day, even if you never enter a park.

We got the vouchers and entered the number and it worked fine.

I purchased on line and the ticket showed up in MDE by itself...magic....I won't activate until December. :cool1:

Glad I searched before I asked this question, since I had a very similar question. I did have one additional follow-up, however:

Is there any limitation on how far in advance of activation you can purchase an annual pass? We won't be going back to Disney until August 2015, but probably want to purchase the annual passes before the price increases again next year (but only after we get our DVC number so we can get the discount). If we purchased the APs now, could we wait until 12 months from now to activate it?

We blew our budget buying DVC AP certificates and non-expiring tickets a few years ago before several price increases. We figure have around 10 years worth of admission media.

To answer your question you can buy certificates in advance, there isn't any time limitation.
