Annual pass question

Hi all- for the first time I am considering an AP because of the special promotion! I always travel to Disney with my sister, who is not an owner on my DVC contract. We currently have the same address on our drivers license but not the same last name (I am recently married). Will this cause an issue with her receiving the discount?

If we buy a voucher in December for the discounted APs (to be redeemed October 2013), I am assuming we will need to show proof of address when we redeem them? What about renewals...will we also need to show proof of address to renew (assuming we renew)? I am not sure how long we will have the same address.

Thanks in advance!

She would be eligible for the member priced AP because she is your sister and lives in the same househould as the member. You would need to be with her when the passes are purchased and all adults need to show proof of address. This applies for new purchases and renewals.

Who is eligible to receive the Annual Pass discount?
Disney Vacation Club Members receive a discount on the Pass for themselves and their immediate family residing in the same household only. At the time of purchase or redemption, your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card must be provided and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household.

Who is defined as "immediate family"?
"Immediate family" is defined by Walt Disney World Resort for discount purposes as noted below: Spouse/Registered Domestic Partner, Parent/Step Parent, Mother-In-Law/Father-In-Law, Child/Step Child, Brother/Stepbrother, Sister/Stepsister, Brother-In-Law/Sister-In-Law, Grandparent, and Grandchild.

Yes your sister will need an ID showing she lives at the same address as you when you exchange the voucher for the AP/PAP. The same is true when renewing an annual pass. You will need your DVC member card and a photo ID, your sister will need an ID showing she lives at the same address.

Thanks for the replies! I guess I was more wondering how they would verify that we are related if we don't have the same last name?

I would say that falls under the heading of "honor system." As long as you can prove shared residency and claim the individual is a qualified relation, Disney will accept that as valid proof.

DH and I have different last names (I never changed my name). I actually own DVC with my sister (from before DH and I met, married, etc.). We've never had any issue with having different last names when we get our AP's. I provide my membership card and DH and I both show our driver's licenses for proof of address. I'm always afraid that a CM will ask us to "prove" we're married, but I've stopped carrying around a copy of our marriage certificate! :rotfl2:
