OK I understand buying economical UT ticket and then using first day then converting to AP, for Disneyworld.

Question is buying ticket now (Before potential ticket price increase) and using in Oct. Then converting next day, does the annual pass start for 365 days.

However if annual pass price increases between now and Oct. any potential savings could be wiped out due to annual price increase.

Therefore we may be better off just to buy AP now to prevent effect of potential pricing increase.

The gate price of the ticket will also increase. Depending which one goes up more you will probably still save something.

If you use the ticket at least once, the value of the ticket becomes the current gate price. If you upgrade the next day, the AP will start the date you used the original ticket (day before).

OP, I had very similar questions and also one other which I hope you don't mind me posting on your thread.

The Ticket Sticky mentioned that doing the above scenario may cause problems with the dining plan. Does anyone know if this is still the case.

Thanks,
Dawn

The only way if would affect the Dining Plan would be if you had the UT pass encoded on your room ID. There is a possibility that negating the admission media from the KKTW card could mess up your Dining credits.

I would NOT have the UT admission encoded on the room id - just use the one day, go thru the turnstyle, go to Guest services and update it to the DVC AP - which won't be encoded on your room id.

If you are trying to upgrade a WDW room package with admission media encoded on the room id, I would have Guest Services verify that your Dining credits are the same befoe and after upgrading to the AP.

The AP renewal date will be the same as the date of first use of the upgraded ticket used - and not neccesarily the first day you use the actual AP. If you use the UT pass today and upgrade today, the renewal date will be today's date. If you used the UT pass on 5/14 and upgraded today, you date of first use of the AP will be 5/14.
