Hello Neighbors,
You haven't heard from me recently. I asked a million questions in June but the good news is that I am now a DVC Member! And very proud of it.
I have a quick question. I have been a premium Annual Passholder for a couple of years now. It is actually up for renewal in August.
Do DVC members get a discount on the Annual Pass? If so, how do I go about getting it?
Thanks for your help.

Next trip home is October 2002!

no that is why I bought the the disney club card it was worth the 40.00 saves 10% on 2 adult and 1 child premium passes plus I get 10% off at the world of Disney in DD for puchases over 25.00

No discounts for Annual passes. The Disney Club is your only means to obtain a discount these days unless you qualify for a Florida residents Annual Pass:(

The Disney Club card is the only way to go. You can purchase APs with it and that will save you some. We have had the card for almost 4 yrs. and it has helped with shopping at Disney Store for birthdays and Christmas. Hope this helps a little and by the way "WELCOME HOME"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on DVC purchase. I also use Disney Club for passes & gifts. It pays for itself with purchase of park passes.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the discount from the Disney Club on AP's just 5%?

I happen to be pricing APs right now, so here goes...

Adult New $369.94; DC $354.04. DC discount 4.3%

Adult Renewal $327.54; DC $316.94. DC discount 3.2%

DC new membership $39.95

For the two APs above, total cost would be:
No discount: $697.48
DC membership & discount: $700.93.

So for just one or two APs, it's not cost-effective unless you use other discounts provided by DC -- which shouldn't be a problem!

OYE even worse than I suspected

Sorry I was wrong about the 10% it is only about the 5% it depends on how many premium renewals you would do if just one it would save you $15.90. only if you need to buy at least 3 would you get your monies worth unless like me I love to shop at DD for the extra % off

Don't forget the National Car rental discount from the Disney Club card! Although, the old discount contract number (still effective) seems to give a much better discount than the new contract number.

FWIW, the DC discounts for AP's are just net dollar discounts; below are the $$ off, pre-tax:

PAP: $20
PAP renewal : $15
AP: $15
AP renewal: $10

FWIW, the DC discounts for AP's are just net dollar discounts...

That never occurred to me... it makes much more sense now!

That also brings to mind a question:

At the All Star Resorts, the tax is 7% instead of 6%, because they're in another county. Does that mean that if you buy your AP (or any admission media) at the gate in DAK, you'll pay more than at MK, Epcot or MGM?

MegaDan,

You may want to reconsider renewing your APs, especially if you're thinking about vacationing in August or Septemper of 2003. If you wait until you are at WDW (or at the DS) to buy a new passes they will be activated the first time you use them. The clock starts ticking for renewal passes as soon as your previous pass expires, even if you don't use it for the first time months afterwards.

That brings up an interesting question.
Our PAP's expire Sept 15. We will be at WDW from the 12th through the 19th. I would like renew my pass on day 1, rather than in the middle of the trip. Would they start my new PAP on the 15th (when old one expires), or the 12th (first use day of new)?
I have a feeling it would be the 12th, and I should just renew in the middle of the trip.

I wish they still handled renewals the "old" way!

Whenever you renew, the new PAP will start the day after the old one expires. So you can do it on arrival and not lose any days. (BTW, your PAP expires on my birthday:cool: ) I'm in the same boat... we arrive 12/4, and my AP expres 12/8. Since it's so far in advance, I'll just renew soon and get a voucher. At least that'll be $350 less I have to spend during vacation :)

Actually, what I have is a renewal for the Premium AP, we enjoy the water parks and Disney Quest.
The renewal price is $428.26 including taxes. If I don't renew now, I would miss out on the savings. It is just a shame they will go unused from August 28th to October 23rd.

Also note that I take advantage of the discount at World of Disney as an Annual Pass holder, it is 10%. It seems like a comparable deal to the Disney Club.

I'm not sure this always works, but I know a DVC member who used their DVC card at the Disney Store to purchase their Annual Pass and the pass rang up with the same discount as the Disney Club card. Since the DVC card works just like a Disney Club card in regards to merchandise purchases, this is not too far fetched. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to check it out! :D

Poohstx,

There isn't really a DVC discount on tickets at the Disney Stores. :(

Apparently there's a lot of confusion at the Disney Stores between DC and DVC benefits. Many members have reported that they were given DC discounts with their DVC cards. Unfortunately, our Disney Store knows better, since DW was a CM there for a couple of years. (But I'm not complaining... we did an OKW add-on at CM rates, and DW had free WDW admission, so it was great :) )

Since we are on the subject of passes - does anyone know when WDW increases the prices on Park Hopper passes?
