I'm thinking of getting an AP for me and one for my daughter. She'll be 3 in September and will no longer be free. We are local residents. I was thinking of the top dog pass. The one wih no block out dates. I was wondering what anyone else would recommend and if there were places I could possibly get them cheaper.

TIA!!

:) Becky

Unfortunately, I don't think it's possible to buy AP's for less. I think it only applies to the tickets, such as the ones that Costco sells. :confused3

I've had the Premium AP for a few years now. I know they knock off $20 if you renew your AP's early but that's about it. I suggest getting the Premium. You won't have to worry about blockout dates, free parking and discounts on food and merchandise. Every little discount helps! :thumbsup2 :cutie:

My friend works for a travel agency in Anaheim and got me my annual passport for $40 off. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll talk to him and see if he can get some for the board members. My $154 socal pass was about $110.

FYI anyone over 60 gets a senior discount on the APs. . . my MIL got one, even though she isn't 60 until this week, and she got her pass last month, she asked and they said gave it to her.

We also have Deluxe Passes. Hate crowds so we avoid summers and when the block out dates are anyway. When we do occassionally run into that block out day, we purchases the special block out day passes (only $30 so it's not terrible.) Our little one turns 3 in October so we are looking at a pass for her after that too.

what i recommend is to get your premium and hers deluxe
you save about $120
and if you end up in the park on one of her bllockout days then you can pay the $30 no blockout fee

the reason i would do this is because you get free parking privelieges
you still get a discout on purchases at the stores
plus you wouldnt have to spend as much money on the passports

this is what my family has done for the past couple of years
my two sisters and i get deluxe
while mom and dad get premium

I agree with PP. Premium for you and Deluxe for her. If you end up there on a blockout day, decide then whether it is worth the upgrade or just the one day ticket. If your needing an upgrade a month into your pass, you'll probably want to upgrade. If you go 6 months without needing a blockout ticket, I would guess you'll be better of just getting the one days.

As far as discounts, if you or your spouse work for a large company or are part of a large union, check and see if there are discounts offered through them. My DHs discount isn't significant. $20 I think for the premium and deluxe, but better then nothing.

We purchased 3-day park hopper tickets and I'm going to upgrade to the deluxe passport while I'm at DL next week (NEXT WEEK!!!!)

I'm planning to be at the park Thursday - Saturday and I'd like to use my pass to get a discount at Ariel's Grotto on Friday but Saturday would be a blackout day for the pass. Will I have to wait until Saturday to actually upgrade? I'm guessing the answer is yes since once I trade up for an AP they will have my original ticket but I thought I'd ask in case anyone here has done this before.

Thanks!

Yep, you either have to wait until Saturday to upgrade or pay the $30 fee for the blackout pass.
