Annual Pass Question for new Florida resident and discounted passes

We are moving to Florida June 2026. When do I qualify for a Florida Resident Annual Pass? Do I have to live there for a few months before purchase or do they just need proof of residency?
Also, do the annual passes ever go on sale like near Black Friday or other times? And if so, are the stipulations like you have to activate it right away or will I be able to purchase 8 months in advance?

If you look at the AP requirements, you need a Florida driver’s license or a combination of other documents that establish residency. Once you have the correct items to prove you are a resident, you can buy the FL resident passes.

APs don’t really go on sale. Occasionally there will be an offer like the one in effect now, where you can get a gift card when buying a new pass. Other times they have offered 15 months for the price of 12. There isn’t any specific time they do these offers. You can buy Disney gift cards at a discount at some warehouse stores, or at a small discount with the Target credit card, and then use those gift cards to buy your AP, giving you a small discount.

You can buy a new pass now and activate it up to a year from purchase. Once you have activated an AP, if you decide to renew it, your renewal is tied to the anniversary date of your original activation.
