Annual Pass Purchase

Got my last week - took about 10 days to arrive from ordering.

$150 for pool view @ AKL is fab. We paid $139 for standard (I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get updgraded - I have read a lot about people being bumped up a notch - plus I'm going to lay it on thick about it being my b'day!!) I'll just be gald to be there!

I would like to be upgraded too but like you will just be glad to be there. Wouldnt have been only I got the AP rate.
Dont think we will stand much chance of an upgrade as we will not arrive til late. Flight lands at 915pm so expect most people will have checked in.
Booked with DU they were great.

Just a quick up date. Got a card to exchange for AP today delivered by DHL along with a receipt detailing res number and amount paid.
Good service only ordered by phone Thursday 5 May.

Candy - AP stands for Annual Pass. It's a WDW tickets that gives you unlimited access to the 4 main WDW parks for 1 year.

There is also a Premium Annual Pass that also includes access to the water parks, Disneyquest and Pleasure Island.

APs are especially good if you plan to return to WDW within a year.

One of the main perks of the AP is getting discounts off WDW resorts - up to 40% in some cases. These discounted rooms are limited though.

You also get various other perks, including meal discounts, discounts at WDW shops and 1/2 price mini golf

One other thing I'm unsure about - is it valid from the date you purchase it or from the date you exchange the voucher at the parks for the real ticket?
And can you still get the room discounts before you have the real ticket?

Or am I completely wrong on this??

Valid from the day you activate the voucher at the parks

Yes you can book a room with an AP discount as long as you have the AP when you check in (though I've never been asked for mine!)

If you have got an AP rate at the Disney resort you will need the AP voucher to check in. The you will need to produce the actual pass before you check out.
I think sometimes you are not asked for the pass but technically you need at least the voucher showing you have purchased one when you check in.

I know the AP cost me £224 for the four park one. Not sure about the PAP. I would log into the US Disneyworld site and check out the cost in $ and convert it.

Thank you for the reply.we have already booked the holiday with virgin.we will be staying on site and the 3 day cruise.now when i look at all the information on the web sites. i know i could have done the holiday a lot cheaper. so what my plan is buy the AP when we check in.and use them for park entry etc. then when we return book another holiday [hopefully] on the net. within the year to make full use of the ap room rates. what do you think is this is it a good idea. have many of you done this.does it work out a lot cheaper.

I know the feeling when you find out that you could have done the holiday cheaper! But we live and learn you will still have a great time If you are sure that you will complete your next holiday within the 12 months then I would definately get an AP when you go this time but if it will be outside the 12 months not sure if there will be a big saving.
I paid 423$ for my AP without the waterpark feature. This included tax and 3$ postage. Didnt need the waterparks as we have lots of days left on previous tickets.
If you decide to go with the AP. For your next years holidays you will need to keep watching the DIS site to find out when the AP rates are expected out for your holiday period. Or use someone like Dreams Unlimited as they will look for the rate for you. We used them but I think there are others who offer the sme service. Read the US discussion boards as you will pickup loads of money saving ideas. Have fun

Yes you do just need one AP for I think up to 3 rooms. But not certain on that. We have got 2 roooms booked on one AP so I know that is ok. Then just get whatever tickets you need for the family either in the UK or US. I always think the non-expiry ones are best as if you dont use all the days you can use them later. Depends how many days you intend to go to the parks tho. I believe you do need an adult AP to book rooms not a childs one.
You will save loads of money provided you can get a discounted room which although not guaranteed, is likely. We have saved more than 800$ on our rooms at the AKL for our stay this year so the AP has more than paid for itself already. Plus there are dining benefits and other discounts that are listed I think on the DIS pages relating to Annual Passes.
We usually just book a flight and car from one of the large agentssuch as Airline Network travelbag etc and then do our own accommodation.
