Annual Pass/ Photopass question

Hi everyone,

We renewed and activated our APs the last day of our trip in August- passes still had a few days after we left but since DH is going by himself this weekend for Wine and Dine and DD5 is going with her grandparents in December we figured we may as well activate while we're all together since the expiration date wouldn't change.

I see now that had we waited, we would have had vouchers and been given Premium passes.

So if DH takes his pass and asks to get one under the new system, my understanding is that he would be given the Gold pass if he pays the $20 difference, right? The Premium is a $100 difference. Blackout days don't matter to us this year.

Then he will have access/can download the photopass pictures that DD5 takes with her grandparents in December since the three of us are all in one MDE account, right?

I don't want to buy memory maker if I can get away with just fixing one of the tickets.

Could we upgrade it to the Platinum Pass when we are there in December to get the photos? If so, would we have to have his band scanned every time to get the photos? He does not have a MDE account, but he is on our accounts. We still have a 4 day trip in December, 2 days in April and 12-14 days in July, so it may be worth the upgrade, since we usually do the Memory Maker.

Yes you should be able to upgrade his pass. No you do not have to have his band scanned every time. As long as you are all linked as family in MDE with the option to view each other's you should be able to see and download the pictures from the MDE app. Only I upgraded my pass and I could see/download ride photos from rides my husband and son rode without me and ones when my husband accidentally scanned his magic band instead of mine (we had the same concern you did).

Yes it would be $20 plus tax to upgrade to gold (I did it last month).
You must either have DD scan her magic band or connect to the grandparents via MDE (with the option to view each other's photos) in order to see and download those pics.

Thanks! I think we will be doing this! The difference between the renewal price we pain in July and the Platinum is only about $110, which is less than one Memory Maker.

I asked a similar question in another forum, as we will be getting DS a Gold Pass (since he attends college in Florida) and park hoppers for the rest of my family. My hope is that we can use his pass to download the photos from our family vacation since he is on my DME account. I was advised to have him create his own DME, and then to link our two accounts through an "invite to family and friends." The poster indicated that the person with the entitlement (the annual pass holder) must have his or her own account to download the photos.

FYI. We purchased a gold AP for DH last week. I already had an old AP (not premium) from earlier this year. He doesn't have his own MDE account as I manage the entire family. I called before our trip last week, spoke with someone about photopass and was told that he doesn't need his own account as long as he is on mine. If he had his own account, the photos would stay on for the length of his AP, but on mine they would only be valid for 45 days. We used his and my bands alternately last week. They are all appearing on my account with a valid date that is 45 days out. I was actually told that the ones scanned to his MB would be good for the length of the pass, but that wasn't true. My account + his gold card on my account = 45 days for any photos scanned to anyone's band on my account. I hope that helps.

Thanks! I download the pictures but hadn't noticed the date on the pictures DH took.

I can deal with a 45 day limit if it means having one account. I do all the planning anyway so I don't see the purpose of multiple accounts.

When you upgraded your pass did you do it at the beginning of your trip? Trying to find out if anyone has used MYW tickets and then upgraded to the gold or plat AP and have had access to all their pictures from their trip to download for free. I've been told by CM that yes you will have access to download all the pictures free since the AP starts the first day of your trip and then I've been told that the free downloads are only for pictures taken after you have upgraded to the AP. Thanks for any help you can offer with your experience with the new gold or plat AP

I upgraded the first day of my October trip but I had taken pictures earlier in the day (before the upgrade was done) and they were immediately avail for free once I upgraded
