Hello! My family of 3 has a package booked for May of 2022. We have hotel and 7 day park hoppers with Genie+ confirmed.
I am a flight attendant and starting to pick up a lot of MCO layovers so I was contemplating purchasing an Annual Pass for myself next week. How would that work with my current package? I wouldn’t need the 7 day ticket included in the booking but my DH and DD would!
I’ve tried to call Disney many times and just can’t sit on hold for an hour 🙄 so i thought I’d check with you experts? Any ideas how this would work with our package in May if I am an AP holder? Thanks guys!!

On a package everyone must have the same tickets. You'd have to purchase the other tickets separately. Or keep the tickets and just save yours toward the future purchase of another ticket or AP.

You won't be able to be on the package without purchasing additional tickets. You would have to change it to a ticketless package (if they still allow that) or a room-only reservation and purchase everyone's tickets separately. As noted, you can save the ticket and use it toward a future purchase.

I am not sure how that would affect your ahead-of-time purchase of Genie+. As an AP, you would not be able to buy it until the day you want to use it, and I dont' know if it applies to rooms plus tickets that are not packages. Ask if you can add Genie+ to those two 7 day hoppers ahead of time (for that you would have to call Disney), if not then you will all have to buy it on the same day.

As others have said, your options are:
1) Buy the AP and keep the package. The package ticket can be used towards an ticket upgrade or AP renewal later. Just keep the ticket number for refererence because it will disappear from your view (but WDW can see it).
2) Drop tickets from the package (for everyone), creating a "basic package" (or cancel and book a room-only reservation). Purchase tickets separately -- AP for you and regular tickets for the others. If you do this, buy the tickets first, then change the package so you continue to have tickets on your MDE and won't lose your park reservations. Just be aware that tickets separate from a package must be paid in full at purchase.
3) Wait to upgrade during your May trip, but that leaves you with 6+ months of layovers in Orlando without a Disney ticket so probably not the ideal solution.

I am not sure how that would affect your ahead-of-time purchase of Genie+.
For those who really want to add Genie+ for length of stay, it can be added to stand-alone tickets as an add-on, like Memory Maker. The AP would still need to buy Genie+ each day.

Thank you everyone for the replies!! I was afraid that was going to be the answer… Now I just have to decide if I can wait until the end of May to have an AP or if I’m going to bite the bullet now and then just keep the package tickets intact for my package. I guess these are good problems to have! Thanks again!
