Annual Pass Help!

I have a few questions about potentially upgrading to an annual pass. I am not sure if it would make sense...We (my hubbie, myself, 18 yo son and 16 yo son) are going to Disney in June, we have 7 day park hoppers. Myself and 16 yo son will be going back in early 2018 for one of the race weekends, not sure which one, but will more than likely than 5 day park hoppers that trip. I am trying to figure out if it would be logical economically to get APs for one or both of us (my son and I). Is Memory Maker included in the price of the AP? Right now we do not have any discounts on our room at WL, not sure if that will play a part either...Any advice??

Considering a 7 day park hopper is $439, and a 5 day park hopper is $409, you will be spending $848 each for you and your son on tickets alone (pre-tax). A platinum annual pass is $749 (pre-tax), so it completely makes sense to buy APs for you and your son.

Memory maker gives your free downloads of your photo pass photos, and this also comes with the Annual Pass. This will also allow you to get AP discounts on your room (if available) and certain dining locations.

You would be ahead if you got the annual pass.

5 day hopper - $435.59
7 day hopper - $467.44

Total = $903.13

The platinum pass is $797.69

There are may discounts available that will help your saving grow. Like 20% off merchandise and 10-20% off certain dining venues. You will get the Memory Maker included with the AP. There are also resort discounts depending on when you go.

Here's an example for you, I am taking a trip January 26-30, 2017. I originally booked with the "gift of Magic" offer and got a room at AKL for $360 per night. When they announced the AP discounts I called and had my reservation adjusted to the AP rate of $312 per night.

Now, all this savings is sometimes counterbalanced with the need to go more often. After all you do have the annual pass.

Enjoy your trips!!!

Thank you so much for the info!

Thank you so much for the info! Should I buy the AP before the June trip or upgrade when we get there. As of right now we have a package with no discounts. We also currently have Memory Maker, I need to call and cancel that...

Well, you have to have some kind of tickets in order to be able to make fast passes at 60 days so you will want to do that.

We bought discounted tickets and then upgraded them. They do something called bridging where the take the value of the ticket at the gate (as opposed to the discounted rate you paid) and charge you the difference to equal up to the gate price of an AP.

Also, they are running a special now for the 45th anniversary where you get 13 months for the price of 12. You may want to take advantage of that. For that you have to purchase by January 3rd so you would need to do it in advance.

Yes, you will want to cancel your memory maker for sure.
