Just curious as to how the parking works at WDW. I've never driven to the parks, only rented a car once while down there. Usually just rely on Disney transportation. We all have our things we don't want to do on vacation and driving is one of them for me. However, my neighbor is going with us and considering it. Since we are pass holders, do I need to bring that pass holder card? do they scan your magic band? I'm not even sure where you pay to park. Haven't parked at a park since I was a kid and my parents drove.

If you are staying at a Disney Resort and they give you a resort parking pass, that will entitle you to free parking at the theme parks.
They can scan MagicBands to see if you eligible for free parking (Resort Guest or Pass Holder). They will either ask for your name or a Photo ID.
If you have the Gold AP Discount Card, you could show that along with a Photo ID.
If you have an RFID AP Card, you could show that along with a Photo ID.

Are they still sending out the Passholder ID cards with the Passholder MB's? I skipped a new MB this year since we got actual AP passes when we bought this past May.

We upgraded 4 day tickets to an annual pass in December and they gave us the cards at the ticket window. Magic bands are on the my Disney experience app. Haven't customized them yet but they will ship when I do.

For the new pass levels (Silver, Gold, Platinum & Platinum Plus), they no longer include a discount card with the Passholder MagicBands. If you need a new passholder card to show for discounts, you will need to get one from either a park ticket window or guest relations location.

I had a Passholder slider on my MagicBand and the CM at the DHS gate just used that to confirm I was PassHolder during our December stay. We stayed at PVB and AKV and neither issued the parking pass for our car. I thought they would scan my MB for the parking at the parks.

Since they're not sending them anymore do we not need them for discounts? Do they just scan the magic band to verify discounts?

The AP card that you get at GR when you activate your new or renewal AP serves as the AP ticket and the discount card all in one. It no longer comes with the AP MB. To get discounts, parking etc. you're supposed to show your AP and your ID, but there are reports (as above in this thread) of CMs not requiring them.

I got an AP card, had to show that and photo ID for the discounts. Same thing for DVC discounts, had to show the card and photo ID.

We just got our new AP magic bands for 2016 and they had 2015 sliders with them. Does anyone know who I can call or email to try to get 2016 sliders?

We renewed back in June so we still got a card in our magic band box. We've never had to go to guest relations to activate our renewal AP in the last two years since we've been getting magic bands. It's always just ready to go. That's why I asked about just having your MB scanned to verify discounts. I avoid guest relations at all costs if I don't have to go there.

So the new renewals aren't coming with cards so that means I have to go to GR to get one? that sucks. :-/

I read that they customize to the year that the MB was ordered. I didn't order my Magicbands until today because (IN THEORY) they will now send me the 2016 slider.

That being said, I parked about 25 times without any scanning my band. But they definitely saw AP when they scanned it. When we were there in September I always asked for a paper parking pass. This time I didn't and since you scan your band at the gate anyway, I had no problems.
