I've read where you can save alot with an annualpass. We are a family of 6 staying for 9 nights (10 days). Will I save money with an annual pass ???

:confused3

It depends . . .

Do you plan on another trip within one year of you current trip? Would you use the discounts associated with the annual pass? And, so on.

I believe their is an article on allearsnet.com that shows the breakeven analysis for MYW versus AP. You would just need to run the amounts for you family.

It would be nice just to say you had APs - but I don't think that would be worth paying more. Or would it? :teeth: :teeth:

Having an Annual Pass would also allow you to purchase the Disney Dining Experience. $60 buys you a 20% discount at all table service Disney Restaurants and some counter service where no Table Service is available (All Stars, AK, waterparks, etc.) We also go small discounts on boat and bike rentals. Plus we ended up getting a discount at the YC. Maybe it wouldn't be great if you are purchasing the dining plan, but we only ate what we wanted and didn't feel like we had to have one TS, one CS and one snack per day. We eat mostly TS. It worked out well for us.

I think so. You can get a lot off your hotel. It depends where you are staying and how much you could get off per night.

A park hopping MYW ticket WITH experation is about $270.
A regular AP is about $442

The difference is $172. For a 9 night stay, if you got $20 a night off your hotel with the pass, it would be worth it. Based on historical patterns, you might get off up to $75 at deluxes/ $45 at mods etc.

Might being the key word, the rates are never guaranteed.

I get one anual pass in my name because I am doing the paying. We are staying in a deluxe resort so I saved $75.00 on one night - we are staying 10 nights. So yes its worth it. I will buy the DDe card for $60.00 and savhttp://www.disboards.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=13748711#e more money. All you need is one unless you are planning to go back.
:cool1: 6 more days!!!!!!!!!

We originally got our AP's b/c we planned a trip in Dec and then going back in Oct then next year. Both trips were to be at least 10 days, so just the tickets alone would have come out a little bit cheaper. In one trip (dec) with out AP we saved $400+ on hotel at POFQ, we got DDE for $50 and in one trip saved over $75. Second trip (2 weeks ago) which we hadn't even dreamed of when we bought the Ap's we saved $440 on OKW and about $10 with DDE (really short trip, not much TS). Our third trip is in Oct, we are not doing the AP hotel discount b/c of the free dining plan, but we only had to but 1 day tickets to get the dining plan and will be using those as credit toward our AP renewals.

For us the AP's were well worth it and I am getting to go to the World 3 times in 12 calendar months, a dream for me, our July trip would have never happened if we wouldn't have already had the AP's. B/c of the hotel discounts we were able to go thier much cheaper than the beach, so the extra 5 hour drive was well worth it.

OK, now I'm second guessing what I just did.

I booked 10 nights at BC and got 10 day passes. I joined AAA for a discount that saved about $500 or so for the rooms.

I didn't think of buying ONE annual pass. That might have saved even more. And as we plan to eat, but the dining plan doesn't sound appealing, a 10% or more discount for food might have paid off as well.

Hmmm....

What I am doing is the following:

I booked a ten day stay at wilderness lodge (Jan 7th-17th) and did room only. This way I have the rooms, payed a small deposit, and can wait and see what comes out later. Say a month before my stay there are no codes, I can just add the package or do AAA etc. I can make a decision really close to my stay at no penalty, from what I understand.

there are always ap rates, just keep an eye out for them and book them right away. you will definitely save money

I think it's worth it. Saved over $600 with family of 10 with the DDE card in May (5 days).

Actually there aren't always AP rates. On top of that, in some instances, they are only offered for specific resorts. Be careful not to fall into the mindset that they will always be there.

We got one AP for me as I do all the booking. We went in June and saved $600 on top of what the extra cost for AP was. We stayed at a deluxe resort. We went again in January, got another great price on the room (sorry I didn't figure how much). So I say it can be worth it! :wizard:

Another thing to consider is how many park days you actually do in each trip. If you stay 1 week but hang by the pool for 2 days, then you're only doing 5 park days.

We've had years where we've visited Orlando 3 times in a 12 mo. span but we usually only do about 4 Disney park days each trip and 1 of those is a waterpark. Both ds's used to love Gatorland and now enjoy Universal/IOA and Sea World. Also we don't do a lot of park hopping so that's not worth the extra $ to us. Our 10 day tix w/water park option-6 visits and no exp. give us 16 days of fun for about $23 per day. If we want to plan more trips we can but there's no rush to cram it in 12 mos.
One nice thing about AP is say your flight arrives at 4 pm you can still go to the park that evening w/o feeling like you "wasted" a whole park day. Dh is crazy that if we're going to use a day off our tix, then we're staying pretty much all day. He's a little obsessed with "getting our money's worth" and won't enter a park after 11 am.
With AP's you can have a day to play at the pool and go to MK just to watch fireworks if you want. Much more freedom.

Remember also that you get to park for free with the AP. And, it gives you another reason to go back before the year is up and your admission is already paid for.

I am feeling a bit dense right now....DH and I purchased FL Seasonal AP's for October and we are going back in Dec.....if I am reading correctly can I purchase one 1 day ticket so I can get the dining plan and then upgrade that ticket to a AP renewal next fall? Do I have to purchase two 1 day tickets? (one for each of us?)
