Annual Pass Early Entry?

I am currently having issues accessing the DL Annual Pass page (they fixed my Premier Pass in MDE for my recent WDW trip, but apparently that messed up the DL side so have to call tomorrow). Sorry if this is a silly question & easy to navigate when you can actually access the page...

I remember reading a while back that AP can get 1 early morning entry a year at DL. My DH and I will be headed down with my in-laws who purchased a package with early entry. Has anyone successfully used the early entry option as an AP? Is it hard? How far in advance do you have to sign up?

That was just a temporary promotion a while ago. Now the only way to get in early if you have an AP is by staying at an on-site hotel.
