Hi guys,

I'm considering buying an annual pass to get the discount when booking a disney hotel thru dreams for next aug, but I've just read that its for room only bookings and not a package including the dining plan - is this correct, and if so would having an AP be any benefit at all?

Prices aren't available for packages til the new year.

What does every one else do - room only or package? We would like the ddp and realise that would mean booking tickets at the same time.

Cheers

To buy a package you only need to buy a one day ticket so your AP`s will be fine. Bear in mind the longest packages with Disney USA are 10 days.
I`ve never seen an Ap discount on packages but had good discounts on room only (once got 45% off our room at AKL!) However room discounts are not guarenteed and those discounts havn`t been too good lately.
I would buy an Ap again if I had more than one trip booked in a year - sadly not the case this year.

ok so now I'm really confused!

If I book a package for us (2 ad 2 ch) thru dreams then I would only need to add a one day ticket for each of us? So I could then purchase park tickets here in the UK from anyone? I was going to get one AP just for the discount, so I wouldn't benefit from having one with a package. Could the ddp still be added on for the duration of our stay even though we only have a one day ticket?

I think dreams book the 14 days as 7 + 7 or 10 + 4 don't they? Please correct me if I'm wrong!

To get the dinning plan you need to buy a package, that mean hotel, tickets and the DDP. YOu cannot apply an AP discouint to that package. However, sometimes there are some discounts that can be applied tp packages, but they will not AP ones! Usually you cannot aply a discount to packages.

If you have an AP you MAY gat a room discount, but it is not guranteed, these can be up to $100 off deluxes, but recently they have been lower at $75, while there has been a general public of $70. This varied time to time.

If you have an AP there are other benifits, that may make it worthwhile, if you stay off site you get free parking, 10% off the bif disney store at DTD and for $60 you can get the disney dinning experience card (DDE), this gives you 20% off all table service meals and some counter service in locatiosn wjere there is not a table service meal (such as AK, POFQ and the value resorts). Dpendiong on how you plan to eat this can sometimes work out better than the DDP.

Cumbria has been sunny this afternoon - otherwise terrible weather for all of Aug!

Re - confusion - I`m with you there!!
I would wait and see how the discounts are before you buy your tickets - the thing is - sometimes Ap rates are the best or as with the free dining the package is the best.
Last year me and DD did POP for 10 days with free dining and I day base tickets for $980 ( we had AP`s)
This year we have booked POR for 14 days with 10 day tix (plus another 1 day tix) plus free dining for $2900 (no AP`s)
You can stay for longer than 10 days but you have to buy another package again and pay for tickets again - whether you need them or not.
Whatever happens you can`t have an AP discount and add the dining plan.
Good luck :thumbsup2
