Annual Pass Discount Question

We are taking our first DVC trip "home" next month. We would like to purchase annual passes and take advantage of our $100 discount. My question is, in order to recieve the discount, do we have to order the pass ahead of time by calling MS? or can we purchase the pass with the discount once we arrive at SSR?

You can purchase the discounted passes at Guest service windows outside any of the 4 parks, as well as at Downtown Disney. Be sure to have you membership card with you, as well as photo ID for all adults.

WDW and DVC resorts do not issue Annual Passes at the check-in desk.

How many annual passes can you buy at the discount. My husband and I are new members. We have no children but intend to take our niece Jonna (6 years old) with us on most of our vacations. Can we purchase an AP for her at the DVC discount?

That is true, when Mom renewed her pass a couple of weeks ago, I pulled out my mebership card to keep her from looking for hers. = Women's purses seem to be a bottomless pit! = I explained she was listed on the contract as an owner and we live together, but the CM still asked to see her membership card...which she found after a few minutes.

This is incorrect. You cannot purchase at the TTC as we tried to do this and were told that we had to proceed to the monorail or ferry and then get the APs at the Guest Relations booth outside of the MK park gates. This was due to the fact that we were purchasing the APs with the DVC discount.

I'm not sure about the International Gateway entrance, but I don't know if I'd chance that as you may not be able to get into the park if they won't allow you to make the purchase.

If you were purchasing APs without the DVC discount it would not be a problem.

I don't usually buy in advance, but I did this year for my January vacation. I am betting on the fact that AP prices will go up after January 1. If they don't, I am still not out anything.

I haven't done it recently, but I do know that in the distant past (we're talking 7+ years ago), I was able to turn in an AP voucher for an AP at IG.

We recently purchased four APs with the DVC discount. We ordered the first through member services, then picked up the ticket at a Guest Relations window on a will call basis. For the other three, we purchased them at a Guest Relations window as we were told we were unable to do so at a regular ticket window.

Just thought I'd share our experiences in case anyone was interested.

We have left over park hoppers (old tickets) with 4 days on it that I had planned to use this year......BUT we have two short trips and one long trip planned all within 12 months of each other (starting the end of March 2006 and the final trip will be the second week of March 2007). I know we will be going to the parks 5 days. It almost seems like it would be a good idea to get park passes this year (we never have bought them before).

Now I have to try to convince DH that it would be good to spend $1300 (for 4 tickets). Don't know if that will fly. But it would be nice to be able to pop into the parks for a few hours on our 'partial' days without burning a day's admission.

I suppose those 4 day park hoppers will be used up in years to come......

Just three weeks ago I exchanged an AP voucher purchased with a DVC discount at International Gate, and was asked for my DVC card when doing so. So I am 98% certain you could purchase one there with the DVC discount.

You can exchange your leftover non-expired PH tickets for APs. They will give you a credit towards your purchase and you will just have to pay the difference. That way you won't have to drop $1300 for the tickets and you won't have to worry about loosing those PH passes. You need to do that at WDW, as they have no way to exchange your current PHs over the phone. Just thought I would pass that along to you.

That way you won't have to drop $1300 for the tickets and you won't have to worry about loosing those PH passes. OH MY!! Thank you SO much for telling me this! I talked to DH at lunch about the getting the passes, and he wasn't thrilled with the idea of paying for APs since we already have the 4 days of PHPs. BUT if we can apply those to the new APs .... AND ......get the DVC discount, that might win him over. I didn't realize we could do this!

If you cash in 4 days of PHPs towards APs you will loose any remaining Plusses on those passes (i.e. the calculate the value of the 4 days but give you no credit for the plusses).

In addition, you will only get the pro-rated value based on what you paid for them, so if you bought them more than a few years ago they'd be worth more as park admission in the future than a credit toward an AP.

Thanks.....actually, they don't have plusses on them (so I shouldn't have called them PHPs--they are just PH tickets). I am still trying to figure out the best approach. I love the flexibility of having passes, but then I also like limiting our time in the park so we have relaxing time at the villas.

I really appreciate all the information. I had never given passes a thought before. I'm still not sure if they are right for us, but it is something to think about!
