Can someone explain to me the best way to save with an annual pass? I want to get one for my next trip but don't know much about where/when to get one in order to take advantage of better room rates while not getting it so early that I won't get the most use possible out of it for subsequent trips.

I think it does not officially start until you activate it at the parks, so you could order anytime and it wouldn't be effective until you activated it. I don't think you have to have ordered it to get room ap discount, you just have to have the ap by the time you check in.

You can make the reservations without the AP but you have to have it when you check in. We bought one AP for the 4 of us last year and saved over $200 because of the AP room discount. Hopefully we will do as well when the new discounts come out for the 7-5-05 through ???.

I booked our trip in Feb, for august. I didn't buy the AP yet, but this week the discounts should be out. When that happens, I will go back to our TA, and see about getting the room discounts, and the new disney express (my TA booked us for mears, since it haden't started yet). We were told at the time of booking that we could go back and do this if the AP gave us discounts. So I didn't waste our money yet. We live in NY and don't go often. The only reason we will get the AP if for the DDE, and the hotel discounts. :sunny:

Thanks for all of the great info. I'll definitely be getting the pass for my next trip! :flower:
