Annual pass-cost if one park is blocked out?

Hi-Last summer we bought annual passes for Universal-we went late August, so we were able to use the passes at both parks (no block out dates). This summer when we go, it looks like Island of Adventure is blocked out. How does the cost work if we need to purchase tickets just for that park? Do we receive any discount since we have the annual pass? What would be the best way to purchase those tickets-wait until we get down there since we have the annual pass?

Assume you purchased the Power Pass since your mention blackout dates...accordining to U website that pass has tix discounts.

Did you run the numbers to see if it'd be cheaper to upgrade your current pass to the next level that has no blackout dates?

I *think* it's 10% off tickets for annual passholders for that type of AP. However, it's likely cheaper to upgrade your pass.

FYI there is no AP discount on one day tickets from what I recall.

If you are going close to the anniversary date of your annual passes you might want to price out renewing your passes and upgrading at the same time. It will probably be more expensive than just upgrading but, the extra amount might be minimal and you'll get another year.

a friend had the deluxe pass, wanted to renew but drop down to the middle level (preferred) when their renewal rolled around. Unfortunately, they were denied that renewal rate...told they'd have to buy it as a new pass.

also, my understanding that you need to be near the 45 day expiration point to renew, could be wrong on that count.

now, i'm curious if any one here has been able to renew from their basis power pass by paying the renewal rate for either of the other, pricer APs.

you are right, just checked website. i just click on the renewal email reminder, paid $159 plus tax this year, but realize they raised the price since. any idea if the monthly auto renewal rate is the same price as offered via the email renewal link?
