I purchased an annual pass yesterday for our upcoming two week trip in September and one week trip sometime in Spring '19. After searching through the forums, I found that the AP Magic Bands aren't sent until after first activation, so we won't even have the AP MB Sliders for our two weeks trip. (We will however have MBs because we're staying on property so we'll get them for our resort stay.) But, when do you get the annual pass card (the credit card looking thing that looks similar to the old KTW card?) Is this given to you at the ticket booth when you activate the annual pass? Wondering the logistics of getting my dining discounts etc if not.

Also, when I purchased my annual pass I got an email from Disney with a barcode. Is this the voucher that everyone keeps referring to?

Thanks!

Yes. When you activate your AP be sure to ask for the AP card.
Yes that is the voucher

We received a letter with two cards attached. Our first day we went to Epcot and they took those cards activated our APs and gave us two new annual pass cards that we now keep. We showed those cards to go through entrances and when we used them at restaurants and shopping. When we got home we ordered our Annual Pass Magic Bands and they are being shipped hopefully with the slider for our next trip in April.

I wonder why some people get the cards and some get the voucher right off the bat?
At the time of purchase, I got the voucher to print off to redeem for my AP.
The last time we went to WDW, I also ordered an AP and a hard card came with our other park passes. (non-AP for those)
So I'm curious as to why some still get a hard card voucher (it was a green card before), and others get a voucher to print out. Unless it has to do with we are staying on site and they figure that you will have a magic band anyway.
Maybe you get the hard card and not the printable voucher if you do not indicate as staying on site????
Either way it's no biggie as when I redeem the voucher to get my AP it will be on MDE and I will also ask for a hard card to keep in my wallet.

Just an FYI . . . we were able to use our AP discount for dining before we had our AP card (we didn't activate the APs until the next morning but had an ADR at our resort for our arrival night). I just pulled up MDE on my phone and showed the CM that we had APs and she gave us the discount. Not sure if all CMs would do that but she asked us if we were using an AP discount and when I told her we didn't have the cards yet because we weren't activating them until the morning she suggested I pull up my MDE to get the discount.

We printed out our voucher (barcode) email, and I took it to a ticketing window at the TTC to be activated. (Went to the TTC since I could walk from the Poly and there was literally no line.) We did not get sliders, but when our APs were activated the Magic Bands we already had from our resort stay worked as our AP ticket. We also got the yellow cards at that time that we showed for dining and shopping discounts.

Quick question on booking HDDR or SoA dinner shows. The disney website indicates that there's currently a 10% discount. But when I go to reserve it, it is not acting like I get any discount. Do I have to activate the AP before I can get the discount? If so, can I get a refund if I make a reservation in advance paying full price, activate the card before the show, and then attend the show as an AP holder?
