I am thinking of purchasing an annual pass this year. I am just wondering how that works with Fastpass +. I have read on here that the clock starts ticking when you first use the AP but what does that mean for Fastpasses? We are going to be staying in a Disney resort in July and i was thinking of buying the AP this month before any price increase (rather than buying tickets and exchanging them when we get down there). I just dont know how we will get our fast pass picks at 60 days out if i do that. Will we still be able to get FP+ choices at 60 days by doing it this way? Thanks for any info.

You will be able to book your FP 60 days out if you are onsite. I bought our annual passes last year before the price increase, and didn't activate them until October. We were able to book at 60 days. So they are not active, but linked to your MDE account, so you are able to book your FP. Works the same as tickets, they're not active when you book FP, but because they're linked you're able to book.

So are your FP’s linked to your resort reservation or do you have a rolling windo with the FP’s? Also i will be the only one getting an AP and my daughter who i am taking this trip will be on a regular ticket. Will we still be able to do FP’s together? Thanks for the info.

If you are staying on property and have a ticket linked to your MDE account, you will be able to book your FPs ahead of time. More the likely, your AP voucher number will automatically link to your MDE account. If not, just add the number to the link a ticket page. When you get to WDW, you will need to take your ID and the CC that you used for your AP(and the voucher number) to the guest service window outside of the parks to activate your card. They should give you an AP card that you can show to get your discounts. Don't forget to ask for your AP discount at the shops. And your daughter's regular ticket will also be linked to your MDE account.

All things are linked to your MDX account; resort reservations, tickets, and FP's. If you are staying onsite (which you say you are) then your FP window will open 60 days prior to your vacation and you can make FP's for your length of stay if you have your tickets linked. Everyone you are making FP's for needs a linked ticket, it doesn't matter the type.

Thanks to all that have responded, the info is very helpful and much appreciated.

One other question i have is if i purchase an annual pass but dont plant to activate it till July but purchase it in January can i still book a resort reservation using the AP discount offers or do i have to wait until after i activate the AP? Thanks again for the info.

2. or do i have to wait until after i activate the AP?
1. Yes.
2. No.
You don't even have to BUY an AP in advance in order to book an AP discounted room.
You just need to obtain the AP on the trip on which you have the AP discounted room.

Can you use Disney GCs to buy an AP and take the GCs with you when activating?

You have to pay for them when you buy the vouchers. So you could use the Disney GC to buy the vouchers online. You can also wait to you get to WDW to buy your AP, but you would not get the benefits of booking your FP ahead of time, since you need some kind of ticket media in order to do that. Having the CC that you used, is just one of the methods that they use to verify that it is you. You can go without it and still have the AP activated. They have just always said that you should bring the CC to show them. If you buy the AP with CC, then it is not something to worry about, just bring your ID and the email verification.

Yes, I know this. In fact, I just bought GCs last night to purchase in the next few days. I just wasn't sure what the purpose of bringing the CC with you when activating. It makes sense that it's a way to verify identity. I'll probably still bring the GCs with me just in case. (I never throw GCs away. I label them with a sharpie because I learned one time in order to get a refund, you must have the original GC or at least the number.) Thanks for the information.
