We are going to buy annual passes for our summer 2015 vacation. Can we purchase the certificates and make fast pass reservations with those? Not sure how (or if) we can do advance fast pass reservations if we don't have the physical annual passes.

thanks.

Yes, you can link those to MDE which will allow advance FP+ selections.

Yes - You can purchase the AP vouchers online, over the phone, in a Disney Store, etc. and link them to your MDE account. You will not be able to make any FP+ reservations prior to your travel unless you have purchased the vouchers ahead of time. If cash flow allows it, I would recommend purchasing your AP's now. From a FP+ perspective, there's no real advantage to buying any further out than 60 days prior to your travel, as this is the earliest that you can begin to make your reservations, but I would do it anyways to avoid any potential ticket price increases between now and then.

Once you arrive at the front gate of your first park, you will need to visit Guest Relations in order to activate the AP's.

All the above... The trick is having your AP linked to MDE which will allow you to make FP+ ressies based on your resort reservation date (60 days). However, we discovered having a Non-Expiring Park Hopper will do the same thing for you as well. We always have AP's, but my daughter's friend who is going on our next trip has unused days on her 10 day PH which allowed her to book FP+ as well.
