We are looking to go for 3 weeks, staying off-site.
Wondering if it might be worthwhile considering getting 1 AP for the free parking and option to get Disney Dining Experience card :confused3
Has anyone else bought an AP in similar circumstances ?

what tickets will you buy for everyone else?
the 14 or 21 day ultimate ticket?

if you're planning on going into the disney waterparks or disneyquest, the people with the ultimate tickets will have unlimited entrance, while the AP person won't - unless you buy the premium annual pass...with the PAP you get unlimited entrance to all the parks (as you do with the 14/21 day ultimate tickets)..

the PAP is very expensive (over $600)...

We were looking at getting an Anual pass too. But it worked out much more expensive for one trip (3 weeks) even with the discounts and everything, so we got 21 day ultimates.

It would have been worth it if we knew we were going back in October 09, but we really don't know yet :)

It does depend on your plans. The DDE with 20% off food and drink at bars or most Table service places can quickly rack up savings and covers up to 10 people. $12 a day for parking can also add up quickly. If its the parks rather than the water parks then probably go for it - an AP works out not bad at all. Certainly we would go down that route even if we don't have a second trip planned.

Was thinking of this option myself, but without the dining option on top.

Because of the free parking, 11 days at Disney would works out about even. Any further days at the parks would then save money

Don't forget also that you get further savings on some shopping, 10% off at World Of Disney for example. 50% off of the crazy golf also if you are interested in that.

as i mentioned, a regular AP doesn't include the waterparks and DQ, so if you're interested in them, the AP on its own won't work..

Yep, suits us as we are not interested in the Water Parks.

However, if you are interested and the rest of the party have passes that allow access to the water parks then you would only need to pay for the annual pass holder and there is a discount on that too :woohoo:

Suppose it would then depend on the discounts you would get elsewhere to see if it is worthwhile :confused3

single entries to the waterparks and disneyquest are very expensive (even with a discount).
and if you do what we do - pop in several times for just an hour at a time, completely unworkable.

So, totally depends on the party that is going as to if it is worthwhile. For our family certainly it will work. For others it may not.

For us it works well, in 2 years of basic AP's we have done 1 day in Blizzard Beach with $4pp+tax discount off gate price. No way worth upgrading for us or looking at other ticket options. Wouldn't go back to DQ without them doing major rehab, not been to PI for 15 years.
Every family needs to check for their own needs. Simple for us but it can be a nightmare working out best option.

Reid, we looked at doing exactly this for our last trip. We would have wanted one premium pass for the water park option but as we weren't spending every day at Disney plus we couldn't use the DDE card at Easter it worked out too expensive. Though we worked out it would have been worth doing if we'd spend every day at Disney or planned a second trip within the year. :)

Thanks for the input guys. Don't think we'll be considering water parks as DP's skin does not react well to chlorine.

My rough calculations thought that 11 days was about break even too, before other discounts.
