Annual Pass Activation/Payments

When purchasing an AP online before our trip, is it correct that the expiration date will be one year from the date we first use our pass? If this is the case, will we be charged our first monthly payment when the pass is activated, or do our monthly payments start the day we purchase the pass online?

The down pymt and first monthly pymt are due when purchased online...and the months thereafter.
The effective date of the AP will be the first day it is used in the parks.

So if I was to buy my pass in say October and not use it until December, my monthly payments would be from Oct 2012-Oct 2013, but the pass would be active from Dec 2012-Dec 2013. Is that correct?

Yes.
I purchased our Deluxe passes in May using the monthly payments before the price increase, and will activate in a few weeks. My pass should be effective until 10/22/2013.

If you pay for an AP months prior to activating, during the time period before activation are you able to log in to the AP area of the Disney site to see the hotel discounts available?

No. You'll have to wait until you activate. You can book hotel reservations at the AP rate over the phone though.
