Annual Pass & Accomodation Question

A fellow forum member is kindly sponsoring us for several fantasy passes. In addition, I'm going to purchase 1 dream pass, in order to benefit from the accomodation discounts, and acquire a free pass for our under 7 year old.

The question is, if I send off for my dream pass now (have application form in hand), will they send me a temporary pass, so that I can book a discounted stay at the Davey Crockett for mid July?

Thanks :)

I have a feeling the pass has to be used within a month of receiving it by post. Also Im not sure if it has to be activated first (ie when actually there) before you can start using it for discounts etc

Thanks for the reply.

Will definitely use it within the month, assuming they don't take too long to arrive once you've applied?

It's the 2nd point I'm unsure about....perhaps I should ring them directly and ask.

If I did have to wait until it was activated, what do you think the chances are of getting accomodation at the DC mid July, on the day! Are they ever booked up completely?

We tried last yr- mid July to get 2 extra nights onsite and there were no rooms anywhere. We eventually got in to Holiday Inn. I certainly wouldnt want to risk waiting til I was there with no accomodation (we actually had a tent booked at a campsite the other side of Paris but decided at the last minute we didnt want to go but wanted to stay closer)

You may even find they are booked up now.

This may not be helpful but as I was looking at the option of changing some of our original booking I phoned.
I was told that there was no availability at DCR for the discounted rate.
Needless to say I kept our original booking :)

I'm not sure (so someone please correct me if I'm wrong) but I thought you could only get the child under 7 free annual pass at the park itself. :confused3

Sorry to intrude, but I was wondering about the child free AP: how does it work exactly? I have tried to find more info on the DLRP site, but I couldn't find any reference... and the DIS search doesn't seem to be working tonight!

Thanks!

You can get a free annual pass for a child aged under 7 when you buy an adult annual pass. It's part of the 15th celebrations but has been extended up to 7th November. Here's the link on the official site, it's only advertised on the French one.

From what I read, I won't be able to use it: we are planning on going in December, and it says you have to request it at the resort before Nov 7 :confused3

Thanks anyway, Elaine! :)

That's a shame....I wonder why you have to purchase the child pass in person

I'm calling them tomorrow so will try and clarify.

Probably because you have to show passport to show DOB.

But it looks like you have to buy your AP and request the child AP at the same time: so I should be able to request them both by mail/Internet... I really don't understand why I should be able to use the offer only at the gate... I hope I just misunderstood!

You are right :thumbsup2

Doesn't really make sense though does it. You only have a temporary pass via the post, so if you'd lied/made a mistake about your child's age when you arrived, they could simply refuse you/ask for you to pay the difference. I guess they're just trying to avoid confrontation?

Did learn something though....was informed that you CAN combine the child free and 20% family discount, as long as you purchase the same kind of passport for everyone.

This works out well though, as the total for dream passports inc. discounts is only £10 more than purchasing 4 fantasy and 1 dream with the free child offer.

So it'll be dream passes all around when we get there :)
