Annual Dues

My dues are scheduled to be deducted monthly, starting the 15th. I understand that I can make a payment with a gift card and that will waive this month's deduction.

My question is is it too close to the date for the automatic withdrawal to be stopped or do I have enough time. My annual dues aren't astronomical, but I'd like to save 5% and not be double charged.

Thanks!

It will not waive the upcoming payment. It will be deducted from your last monthly (Dec) payment. Any remaining would then be applied to the Nov payment, etc.
I don't think this is correct. When I make payments before the 15th, it moves my next payment back. I have already paid three month's worth of dues, and my next deduction will be April. I plan to make more payments before then so that I will never have any deductions from my checking account. I just have it set up that way just in case I can't get it paid in advance. I have always paid a couple of weeks before the 15th, so I don't know how close you can get to the 15th before it is deducted anyway. Sorry I can't help with that. I am curious though because it might be close to April 15th before I can make my next payment. I'll be waiting for a 4x fuel point coupon from Kroger, but need it in April for my 5% Chase Freedom reward which starts that month (or at least has in the past few years, but not sure about this year).

The last time I made a partial payment towards my dues, it worked the way Michael describes. Sometime between then and now, it seems things have changed. I made a partial payment last week and I was surprised to see some text indicating that my next payment would not be deducted until several months from now.

Just to be sure, I just checked my DVC account to see whether DVC deducted a payment on Jan 15th and they did not.

Ok, I am confused. From what I understand, Michael is describing that if you make a partial payment, it will be used to pay the last month's payment and continue to move up. What I described is that it moves your current payment back. It sounds like what happened to you is what I described.

For years, it worked as Michael described but based on my experience this month, it now works as you describe. I've seen a few other posts agreeing with what you posted so it looks like they changed the system sometime in the past year or so.

Ok, gotcha. I just started doing it this way last year, so I don't know anything different. Up until then, I just had it deducted monthly. I love that I can use discounted Disney GCs to pay months in advance.

ETA--Still can't answer the OP's question about how close you can get to the due date to avoid the deduction. You said you paid last week. Do you remember the date?

OP, did you go ahead and pay before the deduction? If so, how did it go?

Just an update, I made a payment using my gift card and the dues page updated within 5 minutes with my next automatic debit being due March 15.
