Annual Atlanta Pin Meet-UPDATED

NEW LOCATION -- PLEASE READ!!

Well, we FINALLY have a date for our THIRD ANNUAL ATLANTA pin meet. Many people have asked if we plan on having one this year and after much deliberation and discussion with other traders, we have settled on July 31, 2004.

If you aren't able to travel to WDW for Winnie's and Fred's Special day, this will be a GREAT consolation prize! (wish we could be there Winnie!)

We had a GREAT turn out last year and are planning for a much larger turnout this year. We are going to make this an all day event with MANY exciting surprises, games and prizes!!! We are planning for this to be an event to remember. We have also blocked rooms, at a significant discount, for those of you coming from out of town. If you are interested in attending, here is the information:

Update:

We have changed locations as the Homewood Suites is unable to accomodate us this year. The new location is listed above and is a wonderful space with restrooms, vending and other great features. We have ALOT of people signed up and plan on having some great games and prizes. If you haven't already signed up to join us, please do -- we will have a blast!!!

I certainly have fond memories of my first pin meet last year. We were blessed with the positive experiences of the Survivor 2 pin meet. Gabby and I didn't know our pin backs from a hole in the ground. It was nice to learn the ropes in such a pleasant atmosphere.

Michael, your event provided me with the opportunity to meet people like Ashley, Mary Etta, and Winnie, who have all become people that I look foward to seeing at the pin meets.

I just wish that it wasn't the same weekend as Winnie's pin meet. This is going to be a hard decision to make.

Hi Micheal,

I know this was a tough call for you. Not only because you and Corey wanted to come to our party when it was first discussed, but because now, this is the only time you had to do it. I totally understand.

And this is one of those times I wish I had a twin. As much as I'm looking forward to our party/meet, I hate missing yours. It is always so much fun. Last year was a blast even though Fred didn't make it. It was fun turning my friend Steve on to PINS!!!
He didn't "get it" at the beginning. But by the time we left he did, and he had about 12 pins to prove it! LOL!!!

Just know you and COrey will be missed.

And Gabby, what a decision. But at least you be happy pin trading and with friends either way!! We would love to have you, as would Micheal & Corey!! LOL!!

Hi!!

Could you tell me a bit more about this PIN MEET please?

We are "rookie" pin traders.Very wet behind the ears
My DH dabbled a bit in pin trading on our last visit to WDW in 2002, and fell in love with it.This year he has a lanyard and has also purchased quite a few starter pins off of ebay.
We really do not know what we are doing--just kind of buying the pins that appeal to us.

We are not far from Atlanta, so if this is something a newbie pin person would benefit from, we'd probably really be interested.

I think you and your husband would feel very comfortable with our group. We seem to have a small amount of new traders every year and they come back the next. The people who have attended this meet in the past are all very friendly and are nice traders to trade with. We hope you will all attend.

We ususally have a pretty large turn out. Last year we had traders from 7 states -- its not an intimidating amount of people, just large enough to make a day of it. I think the people who have attended the alst two years would agree that it is a great meet for someone who is new to trading -- Ashley hosts many trade meets throughout the year, (unfortunatley they are usually when I am in WDW) so there are a group of regulars from the atlanta area that always attend and I have found them all to be fair traders who enjoy the friendship of it more than anything else!

I try to hold pin meets every other month. The next one would normally fall right before Michael's, so the next one will BE Michael's. Going to the annual meet is a great experience. Lots of new people, plenty of trades. And if you have ANY questions, everyone is generally quite helpful.

I just signed up my daughter and I for the meet. We are very excited! We leave for WDW in September so we can brush-up our pin trading skills. We have only been to one other pin trading event, the one at Discover Mills.

Is this location indoors and air conditioned? I hate to even ask, but with the air quality being as nasty as it has been this past week, my asthma has been flaring up. I just need to know how to plan for this. If I need to pre-load my lungs with Albuterol before hand, so that I can survive the nasty ozone/smoggy air and the heat, I need to know. Sorry for being a pain. Thanks. Maggie

Yes the location is airconditioned and indoors -- it actually a better location that the one we have had in precious years. It will be a great venue for our meet.

Thanks Michael. I'm sure the location is great. I just was worried when I saw that it appeared to be a some sort of park that I was going to need to plan a little differently for this.
