When I went to Disney in 1997, I was staying with my family at the All-Star Music.
At the same time, there were tours going on with people from Brazil. They were all teens and young adults. I don't know how many seperate groups there were, but each had about 30 people. A lot of then were staying at the All-Star. Everyhere I went I saw them, in the parks, in the hotel. All they would do is sing native songs and whistle. I don't think I would have minded so much, but they would do this thing where they would get one member to wait on a long line, and then suddenly reappear when that peson got to the front. The Disbey employees didn't do anything.
One time we got on the bus and about 10 of them were on the back, and were chanting some obnoxious music. What a pain it was. They finally left, 2 days before I was leaving.

Sorry to hear this. You must go again real soon so you can have a much more magical memory of the most magical place on earth. I just love that place.
Maybe you should have started singing
"It's A Small World."
I hope you have some memories that are more magical to remember your trip by.
Have a great day!

I really try not to let them bother me because someday I hope we are able to do some foreign traveling ourselves so then WE would be the "foreigners" in THEIR country!! :) It is annoying to be waiting for an attraction to start (I remember this very well from Universal Studios) and a CM is trying to explain directions and the tour groups aren't even listening, but talking to each other in their native tongue. I realize many of them probably don't speak English but the tour guide should instruct them all to be quiet when the CM is speaking to the group.

I had a similar experience with a middle school tour group. I was in line for the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway, and there was a group of about 50-75 of them with no chaperone. When the line split, they went to the far loading platform and I went to the closer one. I was glad I did, because each of those kids rode in their own individual car! And, of course, the CMs did nothing about it.

By the way, nobody mentioned the Brazilian hand games!:bounce:

The thing to remember is that teenagers in any minimally chaperoned setting are going to get a bit rowdy... be patient, its all good.

As far as the Indy Speedway goes, everyone is allowed to ride alone so that everyone has a chance to drive--regardless of the line length. That's one of many reasons why there is always a long wait for this attraction.

I can also assure you that CM's are equally annoyed with the behavior of these groups of teenagers (Brazilian and otherwise) but there just isn't much that they can do. And if CM's were in a position to freely scold and reprimand people, WDW just wouldn't be the same place.

In addition, people from Brazil speak Portuguese. How many Americans do you know that speak Portuguese? So, when it is appropriate for the CM's to try and take action, it's impossible to communicate. The entire situation is very frustrating. If at all possible, I just stay far away from these tour groups. That can be hard during their big touring season (June and July if I remember correctly).

I think it is important to remember that ANY large group can have a tendency to annoying, REGARDLESS of their nationality. I have encountered a number of annoying teenage groups that were American or Canadian (high schools, cheerleaders) while at WDW but I realize that I cannot be responsible for their behaviour, only my own reaction to it, and just let it slide. I'm there to have fun and not let anything like that hamper my vacation.

It has nothing to do nationality just the large group mentality and before this thread takes on a racist tone, I am locking it.
If anyone wishes to discuss it further with me, please feel free to e-mail me about it.
Thanks!
Cathy
