I've been reading these boards for months and was prepared for just about anything in regards to the type of people I may encounter on our first visit to WDW last week.

But I am pleased to announce that........

1) No one ran into me with their stroller
2) I didn't run into anyone w/ our stroller
3) Men stood up so I could sit (w/ the baby) on EVERY bus ride and some even insisted I sit when I wasn't holding someone
4) I heard NO bad words (well, my dad said a$$hole once)
5) I had lots of interesting conversations w/ nice people in line
6) There were only a handful of smokers not following smoking rules
7) No one tried to sit in front of us at the parade
8) People were generally courteous and happy
9) The characters arrived at our tables in a reasonable amount of time
10) All of my ADRs were correct and we were seated almost immediately
11) I did not get ONE blister on my feet - wore Tevas everyday, kids wore crocs
12) The longest wait we had for any ride was 15 minutes (thanks TGM) - and many we just walked right on!
13) We met only ONE rude CM - and that was someone at the monorail and prompted the profanity from my dad (see #4).

I'm sure I could think of more - but just wanted to let those of you who have never been to WDW (like me) know that all the stuff I heard about on here doesn't always happen :)

:thumbsup2

It's so nice to hear that you had a magical trip!!

That is great! I, too, have heard and experienced some of the things that I have read on here, but since I am in the Happiest Place on Earth, I let it go!

on my last trip, I kept getting hit by a stroller - of course it was generally being pushed by my wife or daughter :rotfl2: :lmao:

I tried to return the favor when they were in front of me :smooth:

Last week was a good week to go to WDW. I was there last week, too. Minimal waits.

I had very similar experiences at MK except I had lots more blisters. I'm working on my calluses for next trip already...pedicurist leave the bottoms of my feet alone!

I've decided I pretty much need to stay out of the posts about shocking things people have experienced on their visits and negative CM and fellow visitor encounters and the like -- I'm starting to give myself anxiety.

My DH would happily stand up and testify that me with anxiety isn't a good thing. However, he still finds it hilarious to tell everyone how I had myself so worked up with planning our trip 15 years ago that I started having "nightmares" before we left. Evidently normal people do not work themselves up to the point that they dream they arrive and waste their whole trip in the room because they must start off at the optimum destination, strategizing how to squeeze the very last bit of Disney magic out of their trip. {He hasn't decided yet if it's a good thing or a bad thing I've found the rest of my tribe here on the DIS!} :rotfl2:

Sounds like the OP never left Fantasyland! ;)

NOW THAT IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Nice post OP :thumbsup2

Your experience sounds very similar to ours on our first trip last year. We met so many nice people and great CMs (I would say all but one or two CMs were really great - they are so professional!). We had a fabulous experience - such an amazing atmosphere in the parks!

:lmao: @ no. 4 though.

crowds are generally good and friendly...
the only big problem I've ever had occured at a 3-D show. The crowds were pushing to get in, and my family of six was separated! Three of us chose seats and were saving three for the rest of the group, when an obnoxious family came over and sat down right in the saved seats! We asked them to move, and they just looked at us in an annoying like "Not in a million years! Are you crazy?" So the all of us got up, couldn't find six seats together, and one of us ended up sitting in a row by themselves!

:thumbsup2 Thanks for that report, its good to hear those remarks, especially on your first WDW Trip. So glad you had a terrific experience. :goodvibes

Sounds like you had a very magical trip. That's exactly how it's supposed to be. For us, in our 20 sum odd trips to WDW, we have maybe had 3 or 4 questionable experiences. Nothing that was ever a major set back. I think that's a pretty good record.

Loved your post :)
How about these:
1)People sitting down in the MIDDLE of the rows (not moving all the way down to the end of the row in attractions like Mickey's Philharmonic, Bugs Life, Honey I Shrunk Audience, etc.) :3dglasses

2)And uhh... people with excessive body odor?

The key to these shows is to have your group together before going down the row. If your group is not together, move to the side and wait, seat saving doesn't work and causes confusion and delay.

Our last trip we entered the little mermaid show and started down a row near the back. As instructed, we move to the end of the aisle only to meet 2 women coming from the wrong side. "We got split up and we're saving these seats!" OK I said, how many? "There are 10 of us" So I tried to count ahead to see where to sit down. Not enough seats left because people behind us start sitting down (the nerve!) The woman looks at me angrily and says I can't sit there, it's saved. I told her I was sorry but no seats were left. She looks at me as if I told her I just ran over her dog. "But our group!" I told her there was nothing I could do. And because of this delay, the 3 in my group now had 2 seats, so DS had to sit in my lap. All the while the woman was muttering under her breath about "rude" people and her long lost group. They were never reunited and will die alone. (Sarcasm)

The key method is to have your group together and then enter the row for a show or the line for Expedition Everest, then proceed.

:lmao: :rotfl2: Great post by the way.

dancegrl, I understand why you wanted to save the seats because the rest of your party were already in the theatre but to the people coming after you in the row, they have their instructions to "move all the way in and leave no empty seats" so they would have been conflicted then with you asking them one thing and the CM telling them to do another. You know?

It's so nice to hear there are other people who can go into the parks and not come out griping about everything. :)

I'm guessing the intent of this thread was to say 'no need to complain, complain, complain'. All of a sudden it's about complaining again. I for one wish this thread could stay positive. Heaven knows there are enough threads for people who feel they must gripe about the tiny stuff to go compalin on.
