Hi I have just rented out my points for the first time through a third party company. The company have been great.. But the guests.. Ugh. Is it always like this? My friend has rented somany times and it's always been straightforward. My people have a two bedroom in September and keep asking to change the names of who is goi g.. Its add these adds and take away those only to change it back a few weeks later.. At this point I feel like saying no.. I will change the names a couple of weeks out when you are sure who is going! Lol
Also they keep misspelling a name by literally one letter and then want me to all up and change the one letter? I mean.. Does it even matter if one letter is different. Ugh. I work full time and am very busy and tired and iam sick of havi g to call dvc with these silly mistakes.

If it's not the lead guest, you can change the names online using the reservation modify function. To correct the spelling, you do have to delete and re-add that particular guest.

You don't have to call just do it online as long as it is not the lead name on the reservation. Can be done in less than 3 minutes online

No, it's not always like this. I've rented my points out quite a few times, both through the more popular intermediaries and privately. In all of my dealings, only one renter asked for a change to add a day to their reservation and the day was available. Even though I had to purchase OTUPs to do it (IOW call MS instead of doing it online), I was glad to make it happen for her.

However, the whole reason for going through an intermediary is to avoid the "change this, add that" requests that you get when renting privately. DVC Rental Store actually pays owners $50 for each change a renter requests and it's at the owner's discretion as to whether they acquiesce.

This right here. For me, it's one and done (excluding adding DDP or any other previously agreed-upon changes, based on the signed rental agreement).

I only allowed spelling mistakes to be fixed when I rented the few times to strangers. No changes. When I went through a broker, I don't think I had to change up the names, but can't remember as it was a few years ago.

I am sorry its bee like this for you.

That does sound annoying. I've never had to do that for any of my renters. Like someone said earlier, you can easily make the correction online without having to call.
