I think, a lot of the IP hate is coming from frequent visitors to WDW and/or locals. My family went once, we knew then that we most likely would never go again and had limited time. By choice we skipped most of the educational pavilions in EPCOT, I think we only spent time at the aquarium and at the plant hydro thing because it was a boat ride ... and we didn't understand Journey into Imagination. I remember thinking that if I wanted to learn about X stuff I could read a book back home, we went to Disney for rides, and as international visitors it was also kinda boring for my kid sibling who didn't fully understand english.
I can't imagine we are the only ones that have ever thought that. And while I appreciate the intentions of it, for us back then and for me right now it doesn't seem worth WDW prices $$$ imo.
