Annoyed with Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Cafe at Orlando wouldn't take our two meals passes (tickets from movie/meal deal).
This happened during our visit to Universal Parks week after Tigiving.

As we were seated at our HR table, I showed the tickets to the waiter and he said they didn't take them. . The manager came and confirmed this. I said this deal has been going on for a few years and that I had read HR had a special menu to choose from for people with these tickets. Never heard of a special menu, what?

Ok, so we just order two meals, enjoyed our food, and pay the bill. .

Later that night, as we were leaving citiwalk, I went to citiwalk guest relations, and explained that HR wouldn't take our meal tickets. They were very surprised. They told me tickets are good at any of the citiwalks restaurants. We decided to use them at Pastamore, and the food was ok, but nothing special.

I should have gone back to HR and complained, but we were short of time.

Hard Rock's service is seriously lacking. We walked in one night after Horror Nights and we wanted a table for 4. The place was practically empty. The guy said "well, you can either sit at the bar and they have a full menu there or you can sit at a table and wait for a server but it might take a while."

I just responded with a "Huh? I don't get it.." I was like.. is he explaining to me how a restaurant works? lol But then he seemed annoyed and said "The servers are pretty backed up so I don't know when someone will get to you or you can sit at the bar and they'll serve you there." Seriously, this was the welcome committee? So I just said "Forget it. I'm not eating here." and walked out. If that was the service walking in, I couldn't imagine how the rest of the meal would have gone.

But besides that, I've had some pretty good meals there. I went to Bubba Gump instead which was pretty awful that night too (although my meal and service the first time I went there was great.)

I wasn't impressed with the service or food at Hard Rock Cafe. Server was slow, kids food was ok but mine was awful. I couldn't eat it. Luckily I'd eaten plenty of the appetizer (nachos) which was pretty good.

I'm not going back during my next trip in July 08.

The only problem I had with HRC , and it wasn't really a problem , was that we went to the kiosk across from the Hulk and they gave us a slip of paper with a time on it for dinner at HRC that they got out of the computer. When I gave it to the guy at the desk at the restaurant he told me they were a first come first serve place and didn't do reservations, but lucky for us they had plenty of room.It was no big deal because we didn't have to wait but it could have been very frustrating if we had what we thought was a reservation and would have had to wait for a long time.I thought the food and service were great once we got inside, all though I think some of the staff work a little to hard at being the "cool rocker person" and I could see it being a turn off for some people.

Double check your credit card balances after you eat there.

Our waitress charged 3x the amount of our meal to our room key over Thanksgiving. Even though the slip we signed was for the correct amount.

Her mistake, as we were able to view our room charges immediately that evening and go right to the front desk, show the correct slip and have a credit immediately applied to our room charges.

With a credit card, it may take a couple of days for a fraudulent charge to show up. But check to make sure it is the correct amount.

And we aren't the first people to which it has happened. Apparently they are having a bit of a fraud problem over there.

FWIW - the food was great. My French dip was the best I have had in a long time.

OMG... Best.... French .... Dip ... EVER!!!! That is the primary reason we go to HRC.

OP, sorry you had trouble. Have you considered writing to Universal guest relations to let them know that HRC did not honor the Meal Deal?

It's odd but it always seems to be the Orlando location that has problems. We've had good luck at the location in San Antonio, the only other one we go to.

Hope you do decide to write and let them know ... BTW, was the guy who took your pic on the taller side with curly-ish hair and did he come back with a bobblehead pic, etc? If so, he used to be trolling the old NASCAR. Wonder what the deal with him is?

Yeah we were at Nascar this june and trying to have lunch and there was a lady that interupted us in the middle of eating to ask if we would like a picture of us that could be made into several diffrent things and we politely say no and then she got mad and walked away and don't know if she heard me but said to Dw that she could have asked us before we started or at least finished.

I think of myself as a quite, shy, not wanting to draw attention to myself kind of gal, who has to be told to speak up sometimes.. but the last time I was in there the server (young lady) THREW MY MONEY AT ME on the table (for a refund) when I complained about my drink tasting bad. actually, it was HER who ask how I was enjoying my margarita and I said I it tasted awful and I couldn't drink the thing (tasted like pure alcohol) and I had only taken one sip.

I could kick myself for not reporting her, but I just left her a 2 cent tip instead. which was 2 cents more than she was worth.

sounds like what happen to us not to get off subject of HRC but m'ville when was there in june and so many raved about the food and service.
whe ordered our drinks and they brought them out after waiting for 25 minutes and after another 20 mins they took our orders and we ordered the volcanoe nachos as an appertiser which were great but agian our main course food took 30 to 40 mins and instead of our server saying were sorry about the long wait he just ignored us and no to mention the food was awful and tastless and then when we got the bill it gave the total and place where you put the tip.
so I thought tip for being ignored and I wrote a big 0 in tip line.

The HRC headquarters is in west Orlando. I would think they would take good notice of complaints right in their neighborhood.

Hard Rock used to be my favorite restaurant but the food and price keeps me from going back. The only reason I went last time was because I was seeing a concert at Hard Rock Live.

I also had a similar experience at HRC in Orlando. We waited 20 minutes for a server, she took our order for appetizers, drinks and lunches and then disappeared for 30 minutes when she finally brought our drinks. We asked where the appetizer was and she had to go back to the kitchen to get it (Nachos). When she came brought it, they were cold and looked like they had been sitting for a while - we ate 'cuz we were STARRRVING! She then disappeared for another 20 minutes or so - we had to wave down another server to ask if they could find ours or bring our lunches. By this time my husband is getting peeved! I can see it in his eyes that he's about to explode. He impressed me though, he walked over to the bar, found the manager and told him that we had been waiting for over 1 hour for our lunches. Not only were our kids meals free, my husband and I also got a free dessert (we still had to pay for our lunches and dirks though) and a gift certificate for free appetizers the next time we visit. I totally agree with everyone - HRC has horrible service!

We are thinking about going to the HR to see all the memorabilia. Not sure if I should though.

Kinda off topic, what do the charge for drinks down there? We are use to paying a lot in Canada. ie $4 beer and $5 for martini's etc.
