Annoyed with double booking rule!

Yep, add me to the list. I wanted to book a 3:30pm lunch at Crystal Palace and then a 9pm dinner at Whispering Canyon. Technically, even though the 3:15pm is my lunch, it is dinner time, so they won't do it. How annoying!!!!

That IS annoying. I can see why they have it, but they ought to have a rule that says that as long as ADRs are more than a certain number of hours apart, they are okay. I had a 1:05 lunch ADR and made an 8:10 dinner ADR, and the CM tried to talk me out of that! I told her that I was sure we'd be hungry by 8:10!

Book one in your name and one in someone elses name in your party.

Book whichever one you didn't get under another name and phone number. Since you plan on honoring both reservations, I wouldn't consider this the inconsiderate kind of doublebooking.

That would tick me off too! I can see if there is a 2 hour space between meals but you are almost 6 hours! Some of my relatives are very late eaters for all their meals, lunch late so dinner is later etc....this would screw them up for sure.....

I'm surprised Disney would do something that might prevent them from taking your money. It does seem kinda silly unless they're at the same time. Actually, I didn't know about that rule, so sorry and thanks. I wouldn't feel bad about booking it in someone else's name in your party since you're not doing anything wrong.

Have you tried calling back and booking it with another CM? That's what I would do. I don't understand the trouble some people have been having. When I call to make, cancel, or change an ADR (and I've done it PLENTY of times planning for our upcoming trip), no one has even seemed to be looking at my other ADRs. Whenever we've reviewed my ADRs, it's been because I've specifically asked them to pull up my record and go through them with me to make sure we're in agreement. AND I do have two character meals reserved that are only 3 1/2 hours apart (only times we can get to see them - keep trying to get one changed to later but so far no luck) that I specifically inquired about as to whether or not it was okay. I was told it was completely fine. I'm baffled as to why they would give you a hard time. Maybe the CMs were talked to about the problem of double booking and some are going overboard with their interpretation???

That's odd. I have a 5:00 dinner reservation at Kona Café and a 5:30 dinner reservation at California Grill and no one has given me grief over that yet. I booked this with the same CM and then our travel plans changed and I had to call back and re-book it all a week earlier and it still wasn't a problem.

Why do you have two dinner ressie 30 minutes apart? You can't make it to both?

Just recently, without realizing, I made an ADR at Garden Tea for late afternoon, and then dinner at Raglan Road. (ADRs made weeks apart.)
The ADRs were within a few hours of each other. Of course as soon as I realized this, I cancelled and rebooked one.
And then recenty I was setting up a dinner to meet friends. There was some indecisiveness going on, so I booked the restaurant two nights in a row. Once everthing was set, I cancelled one.
But I have not had any issues, even with the two res' in less than two hours of each other. Both under my name and phone.

I'd either call and rebook one with a different name and number, which I consider perfectly fair, since you are planning on using both meals. Or, could you possibly eat your lunch a little earlier, so it falls under Disney's definition of lunch?

But why do you need two dinner ressie's???? If you are just booking two because you don't know which one you want then that's wrong. Somone else would love to have that ADR and can't because you double booked. If you don't show up they still don't really take walk-ups so no one gets the ressie because you were being selfish??? If you have made ADR's then you know how much trouble they can be.

I completely agree. I also think that double-booking is why the ADRs are so hard to come by. Never in all our years have we had such difficulty. Then again, if everyone just sprung the few extra dollars for the Park Hopper, then they wouldn't be stuck in only one park each day.

I would be intrested for Allegro op to tell us why they have two bookings.

It maybe that the party is going to split in to two groups and eat at two different places, it may also be double booking, but without knowing there will be speculation and more info published on how to cheat the system.

They may not seem to be looking at your other reservations, but they can see all of them - both the active ones and the cancelled ones. It's ALL on the screen in front of them (well, if you're like me they may have to scroll down to see everything, but it's all right there).

I also had a problem booking a Fantasmic package with the Brown Derby at 3:30 and trying to book a 9:30 dinner at Boma. They said I was double booking dinner. I was really irritated that they wouldn't let me book Boma for dinner. They wouldn't let me book 2 dinners regardless of the times but I could however book a lunch at 3:00 and a dinner at 3:30 but since it was 2 different meals it would be okay.Their ADR policy seems to be flawed. I agree you should be able to book meals that are 5 or 6 hours apart regardless if they are both considered "dinner" by Disney's Standards.I am not a big breakfast eater(especially when going on rides) and enjoy an early dinner and a late dinner. Disney is really get strict about double booking,I was warned that ADR'S were being checked and if double booking was found that there was a chance that all the offenders ADR's may be canceled. I think their ADR policy is forcing some of us who have different dining habits to call and use other names and phone numbers so we can get the meals that we want( and have every intention of keeping)
I hope Disney can find a way to improve their ADR policy to accomodate those of us who have different eating schedules. I don't feel it is right for me to have to call with an alias to get a meal 6 hours later just because its considered dinner.

I think that the experiences of the OP and of Kata are ridiculous. It is normal to have your meals 5 to 6 hours apart, and to consider this double booking is unbelievable. I think I would try again, and ask to speak with a supervisor to express your frustration. I understand their desire to crack down on those booking two closely spaced reservations, who obviously cannot be in two places at one time, but this is an example of taking a policy way too far.
