Had someone cancel a party of 5 and I went to scoop it up. Not available however I was able to book the time they released for a party of 4. I then called Disney and they could not add 1 more person on to my reservation but could book me another table of 2 at same time.

So when she cancelled her 5 they got split into different tables and I could not get a 5 myself. Super annoyed right now. Now I sit here with 2 ressies for a total of 6 people hoping our family of 5 can sit together somehow when we arrive. Why would they split and allow me a 4 and 2 but say nothing available for a party of 4 before I booked those 2 ressies?

Now I feel half the reason I can't get reservations I want is because my family is an odd number and not an even.

I agree that it is frustrating. Did you try for 6? I have had this sort of thing happen to me as well. I wish I had known all these years to keep changing the number of reservations. It still upsets me to think I could have had who knows how many reservations over the years if I had just changed my odd number request to an even one.

It actually just happened to me today. I'm a solo diner and they do this even with the small number of "1" at certain places. Luckily the Dis pointed this out to me earlier in the year when I opened a thread over how upset I was at being unable to book 'Ohana at 180 days +10 and not understanding why. Then everyone here was like, "Just put in "2" " and once I got over myself LOL at the perceived persecution of them not wanting solo diners LOL, I did do that, and was able to book it.

Today, I realized I wanted to book Beaches and Cream, a place I've never been, for my December trip - I figure it's probably not too in demand since it's not a premier restaurant like some of the others, and it wound't take my 1 reservation for any times I wanted. Once again, I changed it for 2 and got it. One part of me feels guilty for taking up 2 but then I remind myself it doesn't matter because all tables hold at least 2 anyway, so it's really a non-factor - I'm not stealing any seats. And the same for all the odd numbered reservations - most tables hold an even amount anyway.

I thought of putting 6 after I already had the 4 and 2. All future ones though I am totally trying for 6 if 5 doesn't work.

I called to modify my CG reservation and they had a better time available. However, the cast member never put it through and now we won't be seated until after the fireworks show. SO upset. They only said, keep calling back. We all know how time consuming that is. AGH

That SUCKS! I hate having to call them as I am in Canada and my phone provider charges me an arm and a leg to call the states. They need a 1-800 number
