Hi everyone -- new to these boards, but already received so much helpful information! I grew up in SoCal and been to Disneyland a million times, but not for about 7 years or so, and this is a first for my kids. :cool2:

We're taking a family vacation this upcoming week to DL and I'm planning to announce my pregnancy with my third child to my husband and kids while we're there. :cheer2: (We've been planning this, so it won't be a huge surprise). I'm trying to come up with something fun and/or sentimental, some special way to break the news. I'm considering breaking it to my husband first and then telling the kids separately but am not opposed to just letting everyone know at once (they're all excited and hopeful for a baby, so I don't expect any negative feelings associated with it whatsoever).

Trying to come up with a good place and special way of doing this while at the park(s) -- we'll be spending 3 days at DL and CA and 2 days of driving there, 2 days driving home. We have a special birthday dinner planned for son at Rainforest Cafe, where we will also meet up with extended family (who also don't yet know about my pregnancy, but I don't want to take the focus off of my son's bday, so if we did it that night, it would have to be maybe somewhere else in DD after dinner or something) and also dining with princesses for daughter at Ariel's Grotto :princess:. Otherwise, just enjoying the parks and time with family.

All creative ideas and suggestions are appreciated!! Help me make this memorable!! :)

Thanks soooooo much!

Well I have no experience in this, as DH knew I was pg before I did (the day following conception he said my whole face changed, and inside a week I was up a cup size, and up another after the second week).

But I would think you'd better do it before you ride any rides, or you'll be announcing it (or they will figure it out) when you turn down the first big-deal ride!

Actually I think that would be a good way to do it, but then again, I'm someone whose brand new hubby insisted I POAS that he brought home, so I would stop telling him he was wrong. :rotfl:

I wonder if they could somehow do it on the Jungle Cruise, wouldn't that be fun? I know they're not supposed to go off script, but it would be cool.

You could get a sticker from city hall that says "1st time" and put it on your belly.

You know the window stickers that they have for your car. Why not buy a set of the entire "Disney" family and include a baby and give it as a gift to the family one day..

Which hotel are you staying at? You could work with the hotel and have something waiting in your room when you get there.

Ooh -
I love the sticker idea!
I was going to suggest that you sneak away from the family and buy a Disney baby outfit, and then *Tinkerbell* can deliver it to your room in the middle of the night, announcing the pregnancy to DH and kids!
If you are staying at a DL resort, you could have the front desk deliver autographed photos of your kids' favorite charaters, and include a third picture!
Have a great time, and enjoy every minute (except the morning sickness!)...

What about getting some infant mickey ears and surprising the family in some way with them?

My friend's kids did this to tell her she was a grandma at the Blue Bayou. They had arranged beforehand to have a highchair set up at their table. Included in the chair was a teddy bear with a little bib on it that said "I love Grandma", and there were pink and blue balloons tied to the chair. She was totally surprised, and it has been a fun memory for her. Maybe you could arrange something similar at one of the restaurants you're going to.

I LOVE that idea -- absolutely perfect!! I bet I could squeeze in a lunch at the Blue Bayou or another sit down place that would set that up for me on the first day we're there. Now I've got to figure out how to sneak away and get something set up... or maybe even just hand out presents over lunch with an "I love daddy" bib and then "I'm the big brother" and "I'm the big sister" shirts for the kids or something. Maybe too overboard, but you all have given me some great ideas.

Of course, if I know myself, I'll probably just blurt it out because I can't keep it to myself anymore!!! I'll come back and post with whatever I wound up doing...

What a wonderful idea. I vote for this one
I loved it. Maybe the front desk can help you out with the set up.

What about having Mickey delievering a rattle with a tag "For my newest Mouseketeer". I would if the server could do this when you get the bill.

Congrads!!!

First off Congrats on the new baby :cloud9: You can also go into the world of disney store or hit like walmart and target before you go on your trip and get tshirts for everyone including a little infant shirt. But wrap up everyones gift and give the infant gift to your husband

OK what was the outcome!!! How did you tell the family!!!

Hi there again everyone. Just wanted to let you know how I wound up breaking the news.

Although I loved the high chair at the restaurant idea so much, we just didn't have any time apart that I could really coordinate something that extravagant without my husband wondering what the heck was going on, haha.

When we walked into Disneyland, I wound up taking my daughter (the only one of us who hadn't been before) into City Hall and coming out with two 1st time buttons.... one on her shirt and one right on my belly. My husband didn't really get it at first, but my son kept saying "Mom! It's not your first time, you can't wear that!!" until my husband said "Yeah, why are you wearing that?!" I just kind of looked at him and pointed to my belly and his face lit up and he said "You're pregnant?!!!!" It was fun. The kids were sooooo excited, even if 2 minutes after telling my DD that she was going to be a big sister for the first time, she was like "cool Mom, now let's go see some princesses!" princess: Before we came home, we bought Mickey ears and took them to the embroidery shop where they put "Grandma x 3" on each set, and on our drive back home we stopped at each of our mom's houses to deliver the ears in person. It took them both awhile to figure out what that meant, but they were so shocked and excited!! Fun! :cool1:

Anyway, the whole trip was so much fun -- it's a wonderful thing to experience Disney through your kids' eyes, that's for sure! We had dinner at Ariel's Grotto and it was my daughter's dream come true to have all the princesses doting on her and telling her how beautiful she was. I was in tears all throughout the meal because of what a special experience it was -- and the food was pretty okay too. I do have to say that we ate a few times at the Mimi's on Harbor -- the best food for the best value within walking distance, in my opinion. If you are going, try their corn chowder and their walnut raspberry salad -- soooooooooooooo yummy!!

Okay, well I'm bound to ramble on and on and I'd better get to work, but I just wanted to tell the end of the story!!

Oh... and they think it might be TWINS!!! :cheer2:

Oh I love that! Thank you so much for letting us know how it turned out. Congratulations!!!!

That's a great story!! Congrats to your family!! And wow on twins!! Let us know!
