Announcement: The DVC Resort Reservation Availability board

We are pleased to announce that the new DVC - Resort Reservation Availability board is now open and operational.

We've been setting it up for the last couple of weeks, and many of you have already found it and have already contributed information to the lists. Thank you!

For those of you who haven't seen it yet, take a look (click the link). There's a welcome thread which explains the purpose and function of the board, and there are threads for the next 11-months which show dates that have been reported by you, our DISboard members, as having no availability for the dates, resort, and booking category listed.

Keep in mind this is totally unofficial and relies entirely on information provided by yourselves as you check with DVC about your own reservations. We believe it can help with planning, and may possibly reduce calls to MS. Especially if you're looking at those popular to get dates.

The success of the new board depends on YOU.

Ok, I took a look at the link. Call me slow, dumb, not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I just don't get it. What is the purpose of this thread? To let members know if they did not get their ressies? The codes are confusing. Is there an explanation page? If I see dates in red, then that would tell me I might not want to plan to vacation for those dates? But what if there are cancellations...I don't see where this would alleviate calls to MS.

The purpose of the thread is explained in the "Welcome" thread on the board. It also explains the codes.

The board is an input by users who have called MS for vacation dates and were informed those dates were not available. By posting to the board they let other members know that those dates were not available.

Since dates in red show that those particular resort/villas/categories were completely booked, it can be assumed that in many cases there are also waitlists for those dates, so if a cancellation occurs it would go to those on a waitlist and not be available to new callers.

By reviewing the board ahead of time, if you have an indication that some of your dates might not be available you can have alternate dates already planned, instead of making multiple calls to MS to check dates one at a time.

The thread was developed after considerable support for it was indicated in a poll made a number of weeks ago.
