Hi, My husband and I want to go to WDW for our 10th Anniversity in 2012. I would really appreciate any tips or sugestions for how to celebrate it. Thanks.:)

The spouse and I were at WDW for our 5th anniversary, and we had the BEST time. My experiences:

- Let people know it's your anniversary. Our travel agent called ahead to the hotel (GF) and they upgraded us to concierge! :)
- I arranged for the diver at the Coral Reef and a sign saying "Happy Anniversary" to the spouse (see pic below). The spouse was SO surprised!
- I ordered a mini castle cake from the GF and had it delivered to our hotel room, it was there when we got back from the parks on our anniversary.
- We ate at Cindy's castle on our anniversary. The spouse told the CMs it was our anniversary and they put us at the front table with a view of the carousel. Cinderella congratulated me on finding my Prince Charming! Awwww...
- Watch Wishes at the MK - it is so romantic...

I'm sure you'll get lots of other tips here, too. Have fun on your trip!

Oh, how I wish I could get my husband to go to WDW:) That has been a dream of mine for several years...We will celebrate 35 years in 2 years, so maybe if I start to pray for that directly that would happen...if not, just pixie dust, because I know God is too busy with other things then to grant me that answered prayer....I can't wait to see what others come up with for you...

If you have a big budget, there are beautiful resorts, spas, carriage rides and other typical romantic offerings available. Disney also has a florist so you can fill your room with roses, if you'd like. Info on Carriage rides: http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-horses.html

Restaurants - There are some great dinner options like going to the California Grill (Contemporary resort) for dinner during the Magic Kingdom fireworks. This restaurant has its own viewing platform w/ the Wishes music piped. Other romantic options include "Victoria & Alberts" and Narcoosee (try to get a table by the water). These are high end options. Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table (Magic Kingdom), San Angel Inn (Epcot), Brown Derby (Disney's Hollywood Studios - although my husband and I actually prefer Mama Melrose) and Yak & Yeti (Animal Kingdom) are also good choices.

The "normal" romantic things make me feel pressured and stressed so booking a night in a lovely room at the Grand Floridian and then doing a nice dinner would be completely counter-productive. My idea of romance at Disney World: spending the day at Epcot talking, holding hands, and enjoying all the live entertainment in the World Showcase. Strangely, one of the "most romantic" Disney meals I've enjoyed was when we got counter-service food from the Yakatori House in the Japan pavilion and we ate it in the outdoor Japanese garden after dark.

One time, the ride broke down on Spaceship Earth (the silver ball at Epcot) and we were just stuck there, alone in our ride vehicle for about 30 minutes. We engaged in the kind of making out generally reserved for the back of school buses but you won't want to go any farther than that because Disney has cameras everywhere. But ride break downs are hard to pre-arrange.

A few more things my husband and I find romantic:

1.) Floating around the Lazy Rivers together in the water parks. We also find the double tube slides and watercoasters romantically thrilling.

2) Renting a Kayak (you will get a little wet) at Port Orleans Riverside resort or a canoe at the Fort Wilderness campground. The leisurely pace and the quiet paddling lend themselves to good conversation. The Sea Raycers (motorized) can be kind of fun to - especially in the Epcot resort area and in Downtown Disney. The Sea Raycers have speed governors on them so don't think you're going anywhere fast.

3) Seeing Cirque Du Soleil - La Nouba in Downtown Disney is a fun splurge, especially when coupled with dinner.

4.) Strolling through the resorts - especially the Animal Kingdom, Boardwalk, or Polynesian resorts. These three are all great after dark.

5) Picking out a couple of desserts from either the France, Germany, or Norway pavilion counter-service restaurants (Epcot) and enjoying them together while we wait for IllumiNations. (Be sure to get forks & napkins).

6) Staying at the Magic Kingdom until it closes. The shops stay open for about an additional hour and it is wonderful to enjoy stroll along window shopping. looking at the lighting on the castle etc. There's no advantage to hurrying out - you'll just wait in a line for your transportation - might as well enjoy the park.

7) Watching the Electric Water Pageant - a nighttime floating parade - from beach area at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts. We especially like the Polynesian resort - then we catch the water launch over to the Magic Kingdom, just for the ride. Electric Water Pageant info: http://www.buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-electricwaterpageant.html

8.) Another low-cost gem: Coronado Springs Resorts has The Pepper Market - one of the nice places to use your Disney Dining Plan counter-service credits . Sleep in, then find your way over to the Pepper Market for a nice lunch. After lunch (this is one of our favorite things!), go out find one of their 2-person hammocks to lay in together. You'll probably fall asleep, especially if you've been hitting the theme parks really hard so be careful that you don't get sunburned to a crisp.

An illuminations cruise is fun. We were staying concierge at AKL and they booked us on Breathless. I don't think it's currently being used, maybe it's being fixed up, but that was really neat.

Oh, and, noahdove, maybe you could look into it and present it to your husband? If you planned out something fun, maybe he'd go for you?!

Noahdove;

pm me your man's info and i will arrange for the Disney Mafia to pay him a little trip...... :woohoo:

:D

I was once like him.. "Disney is for kids" type of guy ..
"over priced and crowded" was my excuse..

of course, i had never been there.. and once i got there under much duress, i found Disney really WAS for kids... but I was a kid too!!!

And it wasn't so crowded -or-expensive for that matter...

My husband and I did Disney for a long weekend the beginning of December for our 10th anniversary a few years ago. First off, it was amazing since it was our first vacation without the kids. We had our anniversary dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse (since then my favorite restaurant). The waitress asked if we were celebrating anything, and my husband told her. At the end of the meal, she brought me a single red rose, and a plate of finger desserts with Happy Anniversary spelled out on the plate in chocolate. After dinner, we walked around the Boardwalk. I had my rose, and everyone (especially cast members) asked what the special occassion was. When we told them everyone had something nice to say or we were presented with a small token (many times a pin) from them. If you make Disney aware of your celebration, magical things happen. Check in at Customer Service in one of the Parks and get your Anniversary Buttons. There is a bakery on the Boardwalk that has amazing desserts. Treat yourself to one of them and sit at a table outside. Enjoy your hubby, dessert, and the amazing view across the lagoon to the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. We did the Magic Kingdom only that trip. The rest of the time we enjoyed Hotel hopping to check out all of the Christmas decorations and gingerbread houses. It was nice just to relax and take the days at a slower pace unlike our days when the kids are with us and they want to get all of the rides in.

For our 11th anniversary, we were in Disney with the kids. We had lunch reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table so our daughter could see the Princesses (not on our actual anniversary). Upon check in, the cast members all greeted us with Happy Anniversary. Our waiter at the end of the meal, presented us with a white box and said "I didn't know what to get you for your anniversary, so I hope this works." Inside were two champagne flutes with etching of the Cinderella's Royal Table logo. I was so moved and it was so unexpected that I cried. For dinner on our actual anniversary during the same trip, we had reservations at the Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge. Our waitress greeted us with "Happy Anniversary". Our menus were also personalized at the bottom with Happy Anniversary, Mr. & Mrs., and the date. They are something I will treasure always.

Some great ideas for some couple time would be the hammocks at the Polynesian, sitting in the rocking chairs by the fire (if it's a winter month) in the Wilderness Lodge, carriage rides in Fort Wilderness (and Wilderness Lodge in Dec), steal a kiss in front of the Wishing Well next to Cinderella's Castle in MK (many times we have been there by ourselves), the Grand Floridian has some great gardens and beaches to sit and relax, the Wilderness Lodge has a nice beach as well to sit and watch the Electric Water Parade. Albert and Victoria's restaurant has a Chef Table (which I am sure needs to book well in advance) where it's just your party and no one else. The meal is customize for your right there by the Chef. You can have all kinds of things ordered and delivered to your room. Check out www.DisneyFlorist.com for some great ideas.

Depending on your budget, if you aren't DVC members already, maybe splurge and get a one bedroom villa for yourselves. They have balconies, king size beds, full kitchens, and the added bonus of a large whirlpool tub.

Enjoy and have a great time!!!

Thank you everyone for your advice. I hope that i get to go since i am having a baby, but my mother said she would watch her and her sibling when that happens. Anyway I thank you again.:jumping1:
