I was (am) planning a trip for hubby and I to get away for a very short trip to celebrate our 15 years of marriage. We have not gone away in over 13 years! My plan was to stay onsite (pop), use ME and bus service between parks, get 2 day hoppers and go commando on the parks! But alas..finiances are not cooperating. I already have our tickets, got an awesome deal at 59.00 each way nonstop via AirTran. I won a 2 night stay at a local hotel ( we have stayed there before, so no problems there). We will rent a car, got a rate of 74.00 for our stay (dec.6-8). My main problem is Disney tickets...I can't spend that kind of money and then ontop of that, food. So far we are at $260.00 for airfare, free lodging, and 74.00 for a rental car. My plan is to take hubby on a airboat ride, found an hour long ride near disney for 35.00 a person, maybe gatorland( any any reviews? Hubby is an active outdoorsman, hunts, fishes, watches all the gator shows lol!). I think that was 21.00 a person. Do Downtown disney an evening. It's going to kill me being that close to disney and not being at actual Disney!! So I'm thinking of doing the MVMCP the last night we are there. Any other suggestions to get my mickey fix but on a very limited budget!!!:wizard:

I dont know anything about it and I can't vouch for it but depending on how much time you have you could always do a timeshare tour and get free tickets to go to the parks.

You could go and ride on the monorail, have a meal even a character meal at a resort. Just go tour around one of the resorts you always wanted stay at but couldn't.

If you are only there for 2 nights I don't see how you can fit in a trip to the mouse. Doesn't seem like it would be much of a vacation. You already have the airboat ride and are talking gatorland. DTD would be a good option too. Good luck.

We've been to the mouse many times before and know what we like to do! I'm sure I can enjoy the 2 days in the park, especially childless!! Where can I find more info on the timeshares for tickets?

Have you considered the give a day thing? You can donate your time and get 2 tickets for you and your hubby if you both volunteer. I don't know the specifics but if it is still going on - there you go!

Pretty sure that's all over with as they have reached their qouta..but thanks!!

The give a day promotion has ended so the op would not be able to take advantage of it now. She could check to see if there are any conventions or meetings in the orlando area that they could attend. They often have discounted tickets for the theme parks. They also have after 2pm and after 4pm passes that could save you some money.

I think pound for pound your best buy is the MVMCP. You get the park plus all the special stuff that goes with it. And with it being just you and DH, you can get through a lot more of the park, faster, especially during a special party.

I have to say that there is no way I would sit through a time share presentation on my anniversary trip, especially when you have so very little time there. Maybe if it were a longer trip, and you two are particularly immune to feeling stress during a high pressure sales pitch, but this sounds like a wretched way to spend what's supposed to be a fun, romantic trip just for a day or so in the park. In fact, this reminds me of a sitcom scenario I just saw a few days ago on a rerun of King of Queens. :rotfl:

We did a Segway Tour through celebration with Z E TOURS, INC.. It was very reasonable and we really enjoyed it. Dale is a great guide. There was a thread on here a few days ago with a great discount too.

You might check "groupon.com" once in a while and see what they have for Orlando attractions. Last week they had the Richard Petty driving experience for 1/2 price and this week they had parasailing in front of the Contemporary Resort for 1/2 price.

Where do you see the deals for the parasailing, I just see one for a restaurant in Sanford?
Thanks for all the help!

Remember that with the MVMCP tickets, you can get into the park starting at 4:00 (same with the MNSSHP tickets), so you'll get even more time time in the park.

I wouldn't waste time on a timeshare presentation, it will take the whole day, and you have no way of knowing if those tickets are even good.

What about tickets through Undercovertourist.com? That's a reputable site and there's a slight discount.

We have always gone to Orlando and only visited Disney. This year we spent 2 of our evenings at City Walk. We had a great time. I think it would be a fun evening for a night out for an anniversary. We went to Margaritaville and Bubba Gumps. We liked Margarittaville better...it just felt like a vacation.

With only 2 nights, you really only have one day to do things. I think the airboat ride will be great. We did one before one of our cruises. It was fun, but something we crossed off our bucket list....we don't need to do it again.

Enjoy.

groupon is a 1 day deal thing. If you don't buy the deal the day of the email you are out of luck. Also there is a certain number of people who must buy so it can go through. Of course parasailing in front of the Contemporary is a no-brainer tip.

I do time share tours alot when I am down in Orlando, mostly for cash, I get about $175 each time, sometimes $150 if I am in a good mood and agree to that amount. I always tell them I am not interested when I pass those booths but they insist it won't cost me so I tell them I will go for $175. the guys in the booths don't care who they send, they still get paid.
I can give you some information via PM, won't post it here, but as someone else has said be prepared for almost a full day.
I go the earliest I can and even though I make them stick to the 90 min I still get out around noon to 1 pm. If you can do your air boat in the afternoon this would work then you would have the next day for Disney.
Figure this" Get to the place around 8:30 for a 9 am time. they give you bfst, eat it but tell the person you will talk after bfst so you can enjoy your food. I don't eat there so I get started right away but you might as well enjoy the free meal and go out to a better dinner somewhere with the cash you would have spent.
They start the talk around 9:30 or 10. Look at your watch and note the time. Finish at 11:30. Tell them your time is up and you have to go, they will try one more reduced price to try and get you to buy.
then they get the manager to try and talk you into it and lower the offer again, then finally they will give you your paperwork to get out, then you have to bring the papers to the cashier and wait in line. You won't get out till about 1 am. Your 90 minutes turns into 4 hours or more. Is it worth it?

Yes, the deals are for one day only, but the OP's trip is in 3 months so you have time to scout out the deals...many times deals are repeated.
