My husband and I are celebrating out 10th anniversary at the world next week and I need some ideas for something special for him. We are staying at the VWL and BWV. This will be our firt trip there without our kids, so I would like to do something a little different and special. I thought about possibly ordering something for the room, but didn't see any packages that he would like. You guys always have great ideas, so any help is appreciated!

Hi there

Are you thinking in terms of what to do and where to go while you are there?

My DBF and I took the Segway Around the World Tour and LOVED it! So fun! They also do one in Fort Wilderness. You can horseback ride in FW, too!

Take a horse and carriage ride through Port Orleans, book a romantic dinner at one of the table service restaurants, and have them bring out a special dessert. Dont forget to get your pins and wear them. Lots of magic can happen! :goodvibes

These are great suggestions! I will definitely check out the segway tours! My husband loves outdoors and nature. Thanks so much!

How about a fireworks cruise or a boat rental. They also have a fishing excursion, different tours, and a wine tasting semi private dinner at Flying Fish. It all depends on your likes and dislikes.

As the vacation planner and husband in the family, some thoughts:
  • Do you/Does he golf? If so, plan a tee time at any of the courses. This is a great way to spend time together.
  • If golf isn't your thing, what about mini-golf? They have great courses for that and again, great quality time as you laugh around 18 holes.
  • AMC at DTD now has dinner/drink serving theaters. You can do dinner at a movie.
  • Horseback riding and FW is a great idea above
  • Segway tour at Wilderness Lodge is supposed to be very good. We're looking at this for our next trip.
  • A nice dinner (though pricey) at California Grill (we got a table near the windows for the MK fireworks, very nice)
  • A nice dinner at Narcooss's / Jiko / Yachtsman / Flying Fish etc.
  • The Illuminations boat cruise is awesome, though pricey if only 2 (they're made for 8-10 on a pontoon)
  • Wear the buttons
  • Make sure the hotel is aware, you don't get much, but may get an autographed character pic with a discount for photo pass

Enjoy!

Snag a reservation at Narcoossee's for close to the time of Wishes. Dress up nice and hit the bar before dinner.

My personal vote would be dinner at Victoria and Alberts. It is a three hour dining experience that you will never forget!

These are all really great! So far we will do the segway tour, and I got dinner reservations for Narcoosee's (we have already done California Grill, but never been to Narcoosee's)! We also want to rent and ride the tandem bikes. I am thinking of sneaking off while he is taking one of his afternoon naps to buy some candles and sweets like chocolates, pastries, ect.. He loves dark chocolate. Any ideas on where the best sweets are?

We are celebrating our 10th next month, as well, and will be at WDW in October. We will have the 5 yo in tow, so no romantic plans for that trip. As a guy, I will put in another vote for the Segway tour.

For chocolate, there is a Ghirardelli's at DTD. I don't know if there are any good pastry shops there. Our favorite pastry shop is Starring Rolls at DHS, but it may be challenging getting a nice pastry back to the villa in the September heat, without having a mess.

Have a great time, and Happy Anniversary!

They do single massages in the BWV health club. We booked similar through the facility at the AKL and it was great to get a massage, followed by an afternoon at the pool together. There's also a full service spa in the Dolphin just across the waterway.

Kouzzina is a great restaurant on the boardwalk. The Boardwalk Bakery is the place for pastries. (And my all time favorite breakfast stop!)

Thanks alot, I am really looking forward to the segway tour, and Starring Rolls is our favorite as well. We love eating pastries there early in the morning and listening to the park music.

Thanks! We will definitely try the Boardwalk Bakery. We have been to WDW 6 times and stayed anywhere from 7 to 10 days and never spent time on the Boardwalk. I am very excited to be staying there this trip!

The bakery in France in Epcot is great! THe bakery at the Boardwalk has good stuff, too.

Best chocolate: Ghiradelli's Chocolate at DTD
Best pastries: Boardwalk Bakery (or Starring Rolls at DHS)

We just booked horseback riding for our next trip in October.

We just booked horseback riding for our next trip in October.

We are going to do the horseback riding when we go back in June with another family. There will be 9 of us then including four kids and one 18yr old. The kids will be 7, 9, 11, and 13. We may do Mickey's Backyard BBQ after that. We have never done either of these, so not sure about the BBQ (it gets some really mixed reviews) Have you done the riding or BBQ before?

If your husband, or even you, enjoy a cigar, then a late afternoon/early evening cocktail and cigar outside at the Sosa Cigar Bar and then a dinner on the patio at Paradiso 37 is a great evening. It's fun sitting outside at the Cigar Bar watching all of the people go by and then taking a short walk (it's practically next door) over to Paradiso for some music and dinner. Happy anniversary whatever you do!
