What did your kids love about the 60th celebration?
Or those of you who were kids for the 50th, what do you remember about it?

We're debating between late may/early June or October 2016.
From what I'm read, there's a good chance we can catch the 60th stuff in June, but still unsure about October.

I'd love to see the 60th decor, and let's face it, I'd love to go ASAP, but for my kids, I'm wondering if waiting it out and seeing the Halloween stuff instead would be better.

I know the 60th is a once in a lifetime thing, but will they enjoy it? DS will be 5 and DD will be 8.

I took my DS7 in June. Honestly, he could have cared less that it was the 60th celebration! Yes, we LOVED the new parade and fireworks, but those things will continue well past next year. We did not go because of the 60th since I had just attended the 24hour celebration a few weeks prior, it just worked out for me to take him then. He did, however, LOVE going last year during the holidays and seeing all the decorations. I think he would also enjoy Halloween time, so maybe we can do that next year.
Your kids will have a blast now matter when you go!

Lol. See I was kind of thinking that would be the answer. My dd will noticed the diamond decor but she's really into Halloween. We were scheduled for this October to hit both but had to cancel.

Though it's further away, halloween seems like such a fun time. My son will be going to kindergarten next fall so where he ends up will make a difference. If he doesn't get into the private school dd goes to, he won't have a week off in October like she does and it will have to be a June trip.

The entertainment will stick around in some capacity (even if on a reduced schedule) for a while. Who knows what will be happening in October of 2016? I would not think that being there to see blue bunting and various diamond accents on posts, etc., would be a huge deal to kids. Halloween Time is not as thoroughly decorated as the holiday season is (and the offerings are slim), but it will probably make more of an impression on little ones. The "orange" really stands out, especially if the pumpkins stay on Main Street.

It is almost October now, so I would suggest haunting Disboards in the upcoming months to see all that the Halloween season has to offer, and make your decision based on how much you think your kids would love the Halloween atmosphere vs. the standard park offerings!

I have never been for the Halloween season, but pictures look gorgeous and I would love the opportunity to fashion the perfect adult costume to wear to a Disney Halloween Party!

In late May, you might be bumping up against the tail end of Grad Nights. It seems like they are wrapped up by June?

Have fun planning!

We've looked at some of the Halloween pictures and DD was very excited about that :) We were going to skip the halloween party this year, but I before we made that decision, I was totally thinking of family costumes :)

I do think we'd face some grad nights, but to be honest it doesn't bother me that much. I know some people avoid them like the plague, but we went 2 years ago some time (left hawaii last day of May at 11pm and go in to LAX early June 1st) and stayed for a week. Nothing really stood out that would deter me from planning another trip during that time, especially if my options were limited.

Thanks for your help!
