Annika's Make A Wish Trip.

I've read about the Fish Extenders, seen people's doors decorated in the pics here, i know very little about how the process goes.

We still don't have our room yet, waiting for some last minute paperwork to be sent from Annika's doctor. Can't believe, its only about 5 weeks away, it felt like 5 months not too long ago.

You can search on the DIS board under your cruise date and ship to join a FE exchange. Then you make or buy gifts for the other members or cabins. We did one bag per cabin and I made Disney hand towels, pins, necklaces for kids, & a Husker pencil from Nebraska. We had a small group so it was nice. We got some really great things.

Last Saturday, my son Christian was awarded the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the Phillies Game. We had a ball, literally they let us keep the ball he threw out to the Phillie Phinatic. But they gave us an awesome tour of Citizen's Bank Park.

Yeah this board... is something else. So many people on here, have done multiple cruises.Their insight is invaluable. Right now i'm reading up on all the things to prepare for.

I can't believe how fast its approaching. 1 year went to 6 months... went to 6 weeks... now we are almost at 6 days.

Btw, our MAW wish reps stopped by yesterday. Now we have our official Itinerary for our cruise!!! I mean we already had our room number, but now we have our flight information.

Finally, after one time being over a year away, we are in the home stretch. I'm almost a 40 YO man, and it hasn't hit me yet that we are so close. I told the wife, that i'm going to go out 1 night real late, and real early on the ship, just to take in the atmosphere how everything looks, feels, when there aren't 1000 kids around. I think you can get a better appreciation of the awesomeness.

Are you flying in the day before? Fill me in on some of your fun details!! Carter still talks about his cruise ALL the time and wishes he could go back. I hope your family have a wonderful time and enjoy every moment!!!

Places like here, are the only place were you can discuss MAW, where people can relate. Don't get me wrong, close family and friends understand your plight. But i can recall telling coworkers about my son's upcoming MAW trip, and you can tell by the look on their face was like, "Wow, you are getting all this for free???" Internally, i'm saying, i will trade in 100 free Disney trips for my children, never to have endured what they've gone through so far. My daughter, especially, suffered for years behind her illness.

I'm so glad she gets her wish I completely understand the feeling of wanting to trade the trip in for not having your child be so sick anymore. We were granted a MAW trip to US Hollywood/Legoland last year <3 MAW does a hell of a job trying to grant children the wishes they want.

I can't wait to hear about the trip! Unfortunately our trip this year is a memorial trip but we're going to do the best to enjoy it in our son's honor.

Late night and early morning trips around the ship are a great idea!! I never made it to late at night, but I have gotten up really early. We make it a habit to get some hot chocolate and sit on our balcony (or an outside deck when we don't have a balcony) and enjoy sailing on a nearly empty ship. Then we would go in the hot tubs. Most people were still sleeping and it would feel as if we had the ship to ourselves!! We totally loved it!!!
