Anna and Elsa Coronation

Hello my fellow Disney Loves

I was wondering if there has been any talk about when a possible Anna and Elsa Coronation would be?

I wanted to go - as I'm sure many of you who live here would as well - and I remember for Merida, I didn't know until the day of!

I didn't think that they were going to have coronations for Elsa and Anna. It was my understanding (and this could certainly be wrong) that Merida had a coronation because she was a Pixar princess and needed to be inducted into Disney princesshood. Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Belle, Ariel, etc., as well as Elsa and Anna didn't have coronations because they were already Disney princesses. Very real chance I am wrong, though.

I don't think that is correct. Rapunzel had a coronation and she is from Disney.

So see, it was very possible I was wrong.



When/why did Disney start all of this coronation stuff, anyway? Don't get me wrong here, as I do think it's fun. I just don't remember them doing this back in the day.

The first coronation I remember was in 2006. Cinderella's coronation. I only remember because I had conversation with Peter and Wendy while it was going on. Wendy was not happy at not being invited. Best interaction I have ever had with them.

Mutterings were something would happen the last weekend of Feb to coincide with the Princess Half Marathon and the release of Frozen for HD Digital Download that following week.

I'm curious if both would be added to the official line, though... Anna is the only Princess. Coronation for her would be appropriate, but as Elsa is a Queen, why would she get a coronation into the Disney Princess lineup? She'd basically be getting a royal demotion.

Maybe Elsa could be the one to do the coronation for Anna?

Nah. Elsa is still queen of Arendelle. Now, she will just get to add the title princess of Disney to her name. Kind of like how Prince William is also the Duke of Cambridge. I mean, it works, right? Anna is princess of Arendelle and will be princess of Disney, as well. Ariel is princess of the ocean, Eric's kingdom, and Disney. Right?

If Disney didn't add Elsa to the Princess Line think of all the merchandise sales they would lose out on.

Part of what I think determines whether a princess is added to the line is popularity. Hence why you don't see Princess Eilonwy in the lineup, yet you see non-princesses like Mulan sometimes included.

I'm ashamed to say I had to Google Princess Eilonwy, and I'm a Disney addict.

I saw a ton of little princesses wearing Anna outfits in DL this week. I'm not sure how they will handle Elsa being a queen but I would be shocked if at least Anna doesn't have an official coronation sometime this year.

They're for sure having something for at least Anna, and she will be in her coronation dress (the green one) from the movie.
No word as of yet if Elsa will have her coronation outfit or something different.

I personally would love to see Elsa crown Anna!

Someone who is pretty 'in-the-know' with character sightings in the parks, had reported on his twitter he had heard early Spring for the coronation.

I know there's a picture (supposedly from costuming) of a Face character in a replica of Anna's coronation dress going around on tumblr so there's that.

Thank you to everyone who has been responding. I really like the conversation that's going on as well.

I love the idea of having Elsa coronate Anna. I remember reading somewhere a while back that Elsa would have the first ever Queen coronation with all the other Queens there, but who knows.

I hope someone at Disney or just the lovely CM can tell us some more info when it comes closer to that time

*I read this on a wiki so my info may not be accurate but I believe it makes a lot of sense*
To my understanding Disney almost treats the princess line up as a Mythology of a sense. It is based on the history of a character and how it fits into the story/timeline/culture of princesses. Therefor Elsa would be categorized as princess by those standards of what she adds to the Princess lineup.

Poor Princess Eilonwy. She has been relegated to the dungeons under the castle. She didn't make enough money and has not been seen since she walked around the parks when the movie was released. She committed the one cardinal sin at Disney: Not making money.
