But we can't respond because their husbands died
DawnCt1 said:I don't think that Ann has been anymore vile or hateful than some of the things that the Jersey girls have said about the president in the past. Its not that they should have been meek, they can and were anything that they wanted to be. That is the choice they made. Not everyone is going to agree with their agenda and their conclusions. Ann obviously doesn't and she has said so. While her words may be harsh, they are no more harsh than some of those on the left. I thought that the Colorado professor who referred to all the 9/11 victims as "little Eichmanns" was much more offensive and he said it while on the public payroll.
What vile and hateful things have "the Jersey girls"(nice
) said about George Bush equal to her comments? Link, please.va32h said:Was there some kind of handbook passed out that said "no one is allowed to challenge the political stance of anyone who lost a loved one in 9-11"?
Obviously, Coulter can respond, because she has.
But saying that the women are happy their husbands died, that they only want money, that their husbands probably would have divorced them anyway - those are not responses to a political position. Those are cruel personal attacks. And that is what Coulter is being criticized for, at least on this thread.

Here's a thought for those of you defending this kind of tactic: Who ever said that the widows message was unassailable? Who said that nobody was allowed to disagree with them? Who said that you should just shut up and let their points stand without rebuttal?
But does the Coulter slime crowd do that? Of course not. They don't attack positions...they attack people. That's what makes them vile. That's the difference between the left and the right...you would NEVER see this kind of vile nonsense from the left, and if you did it would be denounced by the leaders of the progressive movement as counter-productive. Where are the leaders on the right? Standing right behind this disgusting ***** and nodding their heads.
Defend her all you want. Just don't try to sell that she was "taken out of context" or that she has any higher purpose than convincing fools to buy her books and read her trash.
eclectics said:I have read absolutely nothing regarding the widows comments about Bush even remotely coming close to the vile things Coulter has said. The "Colorado Professor" is not a conservative pundit and celebrity with access to the national media. I abhore anyone left or right that belittles someone's suffering. And I still say it's shame that some would go to the extent of endorsing someone so full of cruelty and hate just because their political beliefs are the same.
disneyfan67 said:As a independent person I must admit while Ann Coulter is entertaining at times and hits the mark, she could of said things with a kinder tone but still made her point. As for the remark about her must of having a bad childhood because she's so filled with hate, is nonsense. She's no different than what Al Fraken and a host of others like him do. The left in this country hates free speech like Ann Coulter but has no problem with books named Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: or this friendly book title: Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot
Free speech cuts both ways and I didn't hear any Democrats speak out loudly about Ward Churchill's comments. I found this article which had a paragraph which breaks down her Jersey girls comments and I'll quote a sample below. I posted the link as well.

By all means, please provide links to liberals or ANYONE on the left saying that a parent of a soldier or ANYONE else that supports the president despite some tragedy is "happy for their death" or anything remotely resembling that kind of comment.disneyfan67 said:Um, Hello McFly, you can try and fool yourself and others like you as well but that statement bolded above is a outright lie. Shame on you for trying to pull that one off. I have seen many examples of the Democrats do this and does "Bush is a Nazi" remind you of anything. I have heard far worse on "Air America" and don't act like you don't know either. I've seen your hate on display for the President and remember many of your posts on that subject. I respect your right to hate him but don't find it healthy or productive.
Please open your mind that not everything the Democrats do is golden and not everything the Republicans do is evil. I learned that lesson along time ago and that's why I'm not a card carrying member of either party and will not donate money or time to their cause. Both sides of the political isle smear each other on a regular basis.

disneyfan67 said:You never hear from the other widows that supported the President or have you ever heard Cindy's Sheenan ex husband opinion as well? He doesn't agree with what his ex wife is doing in their sons name but you never hear his side.
va32h said:I am so sick of the "out of context" argument. It's a load of garbage. Coulter has not claimed her words were taken out of context - she's defended them and elaborated on them for heaven's sake.
So since Katie Couric "used" her husband's death to promote the cause of colon cancer research and early detection, is she secretly happy her husband died? The New Jersey widows did what many spouses or parents have done when they have tragically lost a loved one - become socially active in hopes of preventing the same kind of tragedy from happening to anyone else.
No one is saying that Coulter doesn't have the "right" to make her disgusting and foul comments. When did the widows say they expect to be "insluated from comments they don't care to hear"? They haven't lowered themselves to respond to Coulter's comments.
So. Just because she's selling books doesn't make her any less horrid. People buy books about Charles Manson, too.
