Has anyone ever attended the Animal Planet Live show? I'm going to US in May and would like to see it. What needs to be done to get in? Does it run all year long? Does it cost to get in? Is there an age requirement? Thanks

You merely need to show up at the theater at show time and you will be good to go. The show is included in the cost of admission to US. Be sure to pick up a show schedule when you enter the park so you can plan your day accordingly. The theater is an open air amphitheater, but you are sheltered from the sun if I remember correctly. It is located over in Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone. The theater is very large and all seats seem to be good ones, so I would not worry much about showing up too early to wait in line to get in. We have always been able to walk right in the regular line without using FOTL.

No problems getting in and it is fun for all ages. It does not seem to get very crowded. If you do have small children you may not want to sit in the middle as they release a hawk to fly down and it goes right over your head, so if they have fears sit slightly to the side.

I guess I will check it out on the next trip!!!! We missed this one, with being so busy and all!

Thanks for the info. Is this televised or just a show for the park?

It's not televised, but it's a fun show with lots of cute animals. There is some audience participation too.

If you would like to participate (adult) sit in the middle section about half way up when they bring out the parrot, cockatoo or conure raise your hand like Horshack on Welcome Back Kotter. The bird will fly up land on your arm and take the dollar that you are holding.
I have a friend that was given one of the retired Lassies and she recently passed away. It was very sad since the dog was so smart and fun.

Thanks for the info. For some reason, I thought that it was part of the Animal Planet tv station, which my daughter loves. We still might go, she'd love to participate.

goodstarr,

It is one in the same with the TV show you speak of it just isnt taped live at USO.

ANIMAL PLANET LIVE, an original attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood is based on the network's most popular programming. The show opened in 2001 at the Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando and Hollywood.

For more info on the show take a look here

If you like this kind of animal show, check out the "Pets Ahoy" show over at SeaWorld.

There, the "actors" are mostly dogs and cats and there are extended periods when the animals have the stage to themselves. It's a very cleverly worked out show.

Personally, I think USF's animal show went down a notch or two in quality when it switched to Animal Planet.

Still, the orangutan is worth it.

I agree. We saw the Animal Planet show after seeing Pets Ahoy, and it was not as well done. The kids enjoyed it, though.

Thanks for all the info. I may just check out Seaworld.:D

We almost didn't bother with animal planet last year as we had done the animal shows at SW and Disney but am I glad we didn't we found it very entertaining and the kids loved it:D

goodstar-
I thought I read that you want your daughter to participate. I told you one way that is aimed for an adult. There are 2 other chances to volunteer and participate. The first 2 volunteers are chosen from the front 1-4 rows and they can include youngsters usually boys 5 to 15. They will work with the dogs.
The second volunteer is the bird stealing your dollar.
The 3rd is 2 preteen to adult females chosen from near the front or on an aisle. This one involves a snake.
Prince is right about the hawk flying over the center section if the kids are small the sides offer a better view and some parents get scared.
Volunteering with enthusiasm as well as volunteering (pointing at) others seems to make a difference. I went to this show with my kids and at a later visit with my wife I was selected to hold the dollar for a cockatoo. The bird landed on my arm and I told him, " Get me a cup of coffee!" (It was a cold day). The bird took the money , flew off and the folks around us had an extra laugh.
If your daughter is young sit up front, encourage her to volunteer and volunteer her at the first opportunity. I've been to this about 15 times in the last ten years and enjoyed it every time. It can get very cold but May shouldn't be a problem.

I haven't been to "Pets Ahoy". Maybe some that have can share some advice as how one can participate. I would like trick my DD10 and DS15 with some advance knowledge.
