Do you need more than a half of the day here. We are arriving on the 27th at around 12PM and was thinking of doing this in the afternoon. We would be there for the parade at 4PM!!! Then head out for dinner b/c it closes at 5PM!

IMHO, I think you need almost more then a full day to really take it all in. I know many people say you can see the good things (i.e. Kilimanjaro Safari's, Dinasour, Kali) in about half a day. But, sometimes lines can be long. And, you may feel as though you have to do the park commando-style, instead of just strolling through all the beautiful different areas.

DH and I always go to AK at least 1 full day, sometimes 2! (He LOVES that park!) :sunny:

It depends on your group. My dh and I typically don't need more than 1/2 day there (although we try to go the first half of the day since the animals are more active). Families with younger kids could easily spend the whole day there.

That seems tough. It will depend on the crowds and how much you really want to do. I havent gotten to spend much time in the AK at all. I went last year (or the year before...life is a blur sometimes ;) ) I arrived really early, the rest of my group wasnt flying in til later so I headed over to the AK since everyone else in my group either (1) had been to the AK many times or (2) said they had no desire to go. This was early june, but it was still crowded. I got there around 10:30 or so, but definitely didnt get the full experience. I got to see Bug's life, the rapids, dinosaur and do some wandering...cant recall what else I saw that initial time, but it wasn't much. I definitely think you'd be hard pressed to see the majority of the park in only 5 hours., unless by some chance there are no crowds

We don't normally stay a full day but you would be best going in the morning or there is a good chance on the safari that all you will see is grass or hear the CM saying "there is a ...... (insert animal)... sleeping over there" !! We don't exactly run about but I think we would be hard pressed to use up a full day at AK,to us there just is not enough to see & do!! In your shoes I'd probably do Epcot, then on the day you do AK,hop back to Ep to catch what you missed.SD :paw:

I have a feeling now that we won't do it when we arrive. First of all b/c I don't know who mentioned it but the animals will be harder to see b/c its probably hotter for them in the afternoon. We may hop into the pool and then head to Epcot to get dinner. We will see what happens. We are going for only four days and trying to get all the parks in. Thanks for all the opinions.

If you only do the major rides it can be done in half a day. If you want to check out all the shows, rides and explore the trails and spend time really looking at the animals( I can spend an hour just watching the tigers), a full day is needed. Even though AK is the largest park I find it to be the most congested and hottest park to explore. It also has the best CS restaurants IMO. Tusker House YUM!!

we really enjoy AK and spent about a day and1/2there ( would have spent more but listened to all the people who only spend 1/2 a day there :) and didn't allow enough in the schedule). it depends on if you want to run through and just hit the big attractions or take time( imo the best way to view this park)and really enjoy the scenery, animals and all the info the CMs know about them ect.

if you go for only 1/2 a day do it AM. first you might want to stay longer and second the safari animals are much more active first thing in the am
