Animal Kingdom

I know that's right! :) I was a little concerned about intoducing her to characters after Christmas when she had a meltdown meeting Santa. But she did fine with the Easter Bunny so I'm feeling a little easier. (By "fine", I mean she walked up to him & smiled but didn't get too close, BUT she didn't scream and cry) ;)

I also used the Easter bunny as a judge of how she will be with characters, she did ok too so I'm hoping for the same in Disney.

Just curious as I have no children, but why is a cab out? Will cabs not take infants as passengers? I sincerely don't understand....

Oh, I just realized you don't want to lug along a car seat! Is that it? If so, NOW I understand why a cab would be out. As I said, I have no experience with kids!

That's a good question. No car seat is the only thing I can think of...

I just assumed one could hold a baby in the back seat of a cab, but maybe I'm mistaken! It would seem people in cities take cabs with babies all the time and I can't believe they are all carrying around car seats, but what do I know?

So the car seat is the issue. My husband and I have discussed this and I think once she is a little older we would be ok taking a cab maybe 2ish? Basically when she is able to sit a little better with less support.

The conversation was in relation to another trip, we would take a limo/cab/van to get to a resort but for dinners out etc wouldn't be worth the risk at this age. Again after she is a little orlder we will revisit the idea, and probably be more open to it.

I know people in NYC area who won't take cabs without a car seat and others who do, I think it's all person preference, but I don't know the law in FL for cabs and with a free bus don't feel the need to risk it.

It's the same in Vegas. We love Vegas, but we have not been back since baby girl was born for that very reason. Plus, outside of Beatles Love, the shows we go to are a little too intense for her.

Of all the things to worry about on WDW trip, the length of the bus ride isn't one of them!

If you're worried the baby will be fussy on the bus ride, you may want to try a sling. I used them in Guatemala when I was fostering my two older kids before they could come to the USA. They usually fall asleep quickly in the sling if there is some movement involved (walking, movement from a bus, etc.) and you also have two hands free to feed or entertain them.

Google maps directions from MK to AK says 8 minutes, as I recall last time that we were there that it took about 12-13 minutes. I think that you will definitely enjoy AK. Lots to see especially for little ones :)

Our trip with our 10 month old was amazing. So magical. At AK, if you go, definitely do Festival of the Lion King and Flights of Wonder. We actually did all the parks- the shows, cgaracters, rides she could do. I agree with PP- was easier than when she was 18 months.

Have a ball!!!

Interesting I was planning on skipping both of those things because of her age....wasn't sure she could sit through them and not be fussy...

Exactly!

"We're waiting to take her until she's old enough to remember it."

Cool! By then, we'll have taken our daughter 5 times ;)
I agree. Of course she won't remember it, but you certainly will. And parenting is all about the little moments- and how great is it to experience a bunch of moments together at Wdw?

I agree that for some families who won't be able to go again that perhaps they should wait until their child is older, but if you can do it, why not!?? :)

You should definitely try them! You could always duck out if you have to. Just make sure she's fed and with a clean diaper :)

Make sure you learn where the babycare centers are- those places are a godsend!

Also, there's a whole forum here on Disney for Families- might find some helpful tips there too :)

Thank you! I will give them a try, it's a short trip so I know we will miss some things but planning/hoping to go back in about a year!

You can hold a baby in the back of a cab, lots of people dont as they don't feel it's safe enough.

If you call a cab company in advance alot of them have car seats that you can use.

Ok all the comments that it's not 30 minutes are making me feel way better! My main concern was the bus ride would be to long!

I stayed at poly for 14 nights and they share the bus with contemporary resort, it was Def no more then 20 mins Infact some times it was like 16 mins

Brought my ten month old to festival of the lion king - she LOVED it!!! Her older brother (3) was bored but she danced on my legs the entire show and clapped her hands and squealed with delight. I would not skip it!! She also loved the triceratops spin - have fun!

I also don't remember the bus ride being that long when I stayed at Bay Lake last year! Make sure and watch the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom! It's amazing!!
