Does anybody know if a wedding ceremony and/or reception can be in the AK? If so, where?

Usually people do just the reception in AK because you can't get in til 2 hours after the park closes. So they get married at the WP or whatever and then go over to AK for a reception at Tusker House restaurant. They also offer space along some of the trails for a reception, but so far no one on the DIS has done one there.

I emailed Disney a while ago and asked about this & they said yes (for Wishes/Custom weddings only, not an option for Escapes). For some reason, I havent heard of many people doing it, but it seems like it would be lovely! There are so many pretty little nooks there & I also love the area by the big tree. You should definately inquire Disney about it if you are interested....and please share your photos with us!!

I think I also saw a couple get married at AKL on one of those Disney travel tv shows.

Aww, that's too bad It looked so cool to get married with giraffes and stuff in the background!! Although, maybe in the spot they had it, the smell might have been really bad. We just visited the Birmingham Zoo a few weeks ago & got to get up real close to the giraffes & boy did they smell yucky!

I had my Ceremony at the WP and then my Pre-Reception in the Tusker House (Was supposed to be the Tamu-Tamu Courtyard but we got rained out) and then the reception was in the Theater of the Festival of the Lion King where we had a plated dinner and they did the show for us. I have not updated my TR because I have been waiting for Pix - but Linda (of Linda and Randy!) called me to say she was sending my pix - yay!!!

When we were in DTD (we were in WOD store) we were talking to a woman who works there and she told us that her daughter had gotten married at the AKL. She said it was beautiful...she told me it was near a bridge or something so I'm not sure where that is exactly.
