We will be at AK Memorial Day weekend (Pandora opening weekend) and are expecting some hefty standby times so looming for some things to do that might not force us to stand in standby times. With 7 year old DD Wilderness Explorers is appealing since we've never done it before.

Can it usually be completed in a day? Even with high crowds? Id like to do it an be able to invest some time it but I don't want to let it consume our day.

I've only done it with my Dd at age 3 and 5, both times we just did what we came across. We loved it.

You probably could complete it in a day, but I would still recommend trying bits of it even if you won't get to it all.

We are big fans! It is a cute way for kids of all ages to have enrichment activities at AK. My dd still remembers how she figured out what sort of footprints were in one of the cages!

Honestly, it would take a lot of work for you to get it all done in a day. You'd basically need to spend your entire day doing nothing but Wilderness Explorers. We spent about 11-12 hours at AK between our two days, and they definitely did not get it all done, but we were also doing attractions etc.... I forget how many they still had left. That said, don't make the goal to finish it, just let them enjoy it, and get what they can done. Save the rest for another trip. My kids were 8 & 5 and absolutely LOVED it, and even now at almost 10 & 7, can't wait to go back and do it again.

Thanks...more than goal setting for myself Im hoping to temper the competitive nature of my 7 year old, lol.

We've actually got 2.5 days in AK so trying to see how to space it out. One day we plan on going there for the opening of Pandora (just to walk around at night) so we will likely knock out that area then, then spend our other two days on the rest. Appreciate the help.

Last time we went, Wilderness Explorers was my DD6's favourite thing of the entire trip. All my kids loved it (ages 6, 8, 11). We couldn't finish it in one day. We started first thing in the morning and spent A LOT of time on it as we toured around. They were disappointed they couldn't finish, but the program closed at 4:30, even though the park was open much later. But it's set up so that you get a sticker ("badge") for each separate activity, so you don't need to do them all. Fit in what you can - I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

With 2.5 days in AK, you have a good chance at finishing it. It took us 4 half days (over multiple trips) to complete our book. It's really a great activity. We've been to AK many times, but the activity really immerses you in areas of AK you might not otherwise explore. Just a tip, we found that in some areas, we couldn't find a CM with the activity or stickers to complete an activity. If this happens to you, they have a full set of the stickers at the starting point, so you can always tell them you went to do the activity but no one was there. Also, they book doesn't include Pandora. I don't know if they will change that once Pandora opens.
