The Disney wedding planning date is June. However, we, The Mother of the Bride, the Bride and her entourage, have been doing some pre planning date site explorations. We are leaning toward the Animal Kingdom. The Disney site lists the Tamu Tamu courtyard as a reception place. We are wondering if it is possible to have the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same place. Like the Tamu Tamu courtyard or the Belvidere Ruins. We have been looking at The Japan courtyard for the ceremony but are not comfortable with sending guest off until after the Animal Kingdom closes for the reception. I have read everything Disney has to offer and the Passporters guide and there is nothing that would suggest this is possible. Anyone out there ever done this. How was it and I would also like to see some photos of Weddings at the Animal Kingdom please. It is by far our favorite park.

You can't have your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all in the same place because there is no time to re-set the space from ceremony setup to reception setup and no place for your guests to go while it's done. Why couldn't you do your ceremony in Belvedere and your reception in Tamu Tamu?

That makes sense. And I hadn't thought about 2 Animal Kingdom venues. My daughter----the bride----does not really like Tamu Tamu and is leaning more toward the Everest area but I am not fond of the base camp look. She is also drawn to the Up Country Walkway. Thank goodness we have time. I really am liking the idea of a Belvedere ceremony. Thanks. I have read the Passporters book 3 times now and I still have no clue. I think I might be one of those people that has to actually see things to appreciate them. When we figure it all out I will be posting photos.

I hear you! It really helps to see these places in person, so if you do have a chance to do a site visit, take it!

One thing to consider is that after all the renovations at Animal Kingdom are done and the new night-time show starts, in-park events will have to start much later than they do now because the park will be open to day guests later. Usually events can't start until 2 hours after the park closes. AK used to be a great option for in-park events at a not-ungodly hour, but we'll have to see what the schedule is like when all this happens.
